UNE Discovery VoyagerLast Wednesday the team from UNE Discovery Voyager visited Ulmarra Public School. The Discovery Voyger travels to schools in northern NSW area. The program engages students in STEAM activities from a young age, which not only helps them think differently about science, but encourages inquiry and critical thinking – skills invaluable beyond the classroom. The day consisted of class rotations, with hands on activities such as Creative Chemistry, Dynamic Bodies, Busybots and Energy Eating.

POSITIVE BEHAVIOURS FOR LEARNING - PBL Our Core Values across the school are to promote the school community to be SAFE, SUPPORTIVE and RESPECTFUL.
River to Sea TransitionTomorrow will be our last day of Transition for Term 3. Our 11 students have settled into a great routine of Lit-eracy groups, Number work, art and of course some fun. They are all working towards being ready for Kin-dergarten in 2020. Miss Grewal and Ms Cowan look for-ward to Term 4. Transition students will resume on Tues-day 15th October.
Swim and GymThis week the Ulmarra Public School students will be travelling to South Grafton Pool and Gym for their in-tensive Swimming lessons and Gym sessions. Please remember to pack swimmers, towels, plastic bag and goggles if needed. All items of clothing need to be labeled as it makes it easier to return the items left in change rooms. One day during the week we will be having either morning tea or a picnic lunch at Pirate Park in South Grafton. We will then walk the students across the Grafton Bridge to have a look at the new bridge being built.
Lake Ainsworth PaymentThe final payment for our Lake Ainsworth excursion is due 23rd October. This is always a fantastic excursion for the years 3-6. We will depart Ulmarra Public School on Wednesday 20 November and return on Friday 22th November 2019 Some of the activities include: ma-rine and environmental studies, archery, high and low ropes course and more. We look forward to a few fun filled days.
P&C MeetingOur next P&C Meeting will be held on the 22nd Octo-ber at 6pm in the school Library. Everyone is welcome to attend.
Touch Football Gala DayLast Friday students from years 2-6 travelled to Yamba for the Yamba Touch Football Gala Day. This is always a fun and busy day. All three teams did exceptionally well, with some of our juniors playing games back to back to be substitues for the senior games. Our Ulmar-ra Public School students showed great sportsmanship and Team Spirit. Crongratulations to everyone involved on the day.
Morning SupervisionA reminder that morning supervision begins at 8:45 am at the first bell. In the interests of safety for your children, we encourage all parents to not bring their children to school before this time. If your child must be at school before these hours they will be unsupervised and must remain seated under the COLA until morning duty be-gins.
Jacaranda ThursdayUlmarra Public School will be open until 1:00 pm on Thursday of the Jacaranda week (Thursday 31st Oc-tober 2019). Last year most students were absent from school on this day. As such, whilst the school will be open for the morning, it is unlikely that normal lessons and routine will operate. As it is a gazetted holiday we will not count the students absence in the overall 100% attendance for Term 4. Any students who attend school in the morning will be required to stay at school until 1:00 pm, unless parents sign them out of school, as per normal school procedure. Our main bus company has informed us that school buses will run to their normal school timetables in the morning BUT NO BUSES WILL BE AVAILABLE TO TRANSPORT STUDENTS HOME WHEN THE SCHOOL CLOSES AT 1:00 PM.
