The season 1968 started with a victory of Jim Clark at Kyalami and had its sad peak with Clarks deadly accident at Hockenheim. Though the show had to go on. Graham Hill convinced Colin Chap-man to do so - and won the championship for Jim Clark and the team Lotus in 1968. Matra played a major part in this season, which saw several winners. Jackie Stewart would have dominated in his french race car, if not his hand would have been injured at about mid season. The Dunlop tyres, only supplied to team Matra, proofed absolutely superior at the Ring, when he lead 4 minutes when the chequered flag stated his German GP victory. Denny Hulme, the reigning champion in 1968 also had his chance until the last race at Mexico City, where Hill but finally took victory and title. Bruce McLaren, John Surtees, Jo Siffert, Pedro Rodriguez, Jacky Icky ....the 1968 F1 season was another peak of F1.

Dan Gurney in front of Graham Hill, Chris Amon and John Surtees in 1966 at Spa Francorchamps, the Belgium

Grand Prix. He won this Grand Prix after an exciting race with Jim Clark as his major competitor and once again

as the man of the field. But Gurneys fabulous but heavy Eagle Weslake V12 won this Belgium GP. A victory that so

many other privateers tried to achieve so hard - winning a F1 GP with your own construction and engine !Original available

- Framed prints: 50 x 60 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 25 x 30 cm

John Surtees keeps his Honda RA300 in the lead at the Italian Grand Prix 1967 - just inches

ahead of the Brabham-Repco of Jack Brabham. To win Monza you had to have the chance and

knowledge to win a slipstream duel. Like Jackie Stewart two years later or Peter Gethin in 1971.

Clark had lead the Monza GP 1967 two times, but a tyre puncture near the half and a faulty fuel

pump did the rest to his second lead after having faught back through the field. So it was Surtees

and Brabham fighting for the victory - and John Surtees just went over the finish line 0,2 secs

ahead of the Australian.

#213 John Surtees, Ferrari 312 V12, Monaco Grand Prix 1966- On canvas: 120 x 160 cm, 180 x 100 cm, 150 x 90 cm, 120 x 70 cm, 100 x 60 cm, 80 x 50 cm

John Surtees on Ferrari 312 leading Jackie Stewart on BRM in the early stage of the Monte Carlo GP.

This is one of my largest original art works. It measures 70 x 100 cm, so about 28 x 40 inches.

I just like this Ferrari 312 very much. Still in the era of F1 without wings, the 1966 generation is one of my favourites.

#452-A Jacky Ickx, Ferrari 312, F1 1968- On canvas: 180 x 100 cm, 150 x 70 cm, 100 x 50 cm, 80 x 40 cm- Framed prints: 50 x 60 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 25 x 30 cm #70 Phil Hill, Ferrari 156, V6,

#364 Dan Gurney / Porsche 804, Monaco Grand Prix 1962- On canvas: 160 x 120 cm, 130 x 100 cm, 100 x 70 cm

- Framed prints: 50 x 60 cm, 40 x 50 cm, 25 x 30 cm

Monaco Grand Prix 1962: Dan Gurney already drives the 804 Porsche and achieves the third best time, though as his lap time is equal with two others, he starts from 5th place on the grid. Phil Hill, displayed here ahead of Gurney in the Ferrari 156, later will finish 2nd. Bruce McLaren on his Cooper, displa-yed in front here, will be the winner of the most important race in the season It still was the season opener in 1962.

It was the only season for the beautiful Porsche 804 Formula One car. Joakim Bonnier still drove the Porsche 718 with his swedish colours in that race, but ma-naged to get on a fifth place after a slow start from nearly the back of the field. Dan Gurney unfortunately abandonned before the end of the race. The scene shows the three cars in the long and fast Massenet curve approaching to Casino corner, with the Casino building backside already in sight. This is a tricky spot - after the steep full flat run up to the Casino hill, the cars have to slowdown with low grip into this left hand corner. The shops in Massenet Corner under the balcony are there until today.

I remember the bad accident of Niki Lauda at Nurburgring quite well. It was 1976 and I was 11 years old. The fotos of the burning Ferrari wreck and Arturo Merzario saving Laudas life went up and down our TV screens. He had lead the F1 championship that year, always in a close fight with James Hunt on the McLaren. Lauda came back as early as possible, only some weeks after the accident - mainly to protect his driver seat against the Ferrari diplomacy, which did not only work against people like Surtees. So against all odds it came to an unfor-gettable showdown at the last GP race of the 1976 season at Fuji, when Hunt had the chance to get world champion by achieving 4 points more than Lauda, at a monsoon wet japanese GP track. But as if this was not enough of excitement, the rain did even got heavier. When the race finally was started, Lauda drove some laps, soon failed to stay near his english rival and decided to quit. Most other people would have been still in hospital, and definitely not in a race car. Hunt raced may be like never be-fore and achieved this third place - against all storms at Suzuka, heavy competition and a deflated tyre and extra pit stop. He won the world championship title 1976. Also displayed is John Watson in his Penske Ford.

There are some epic duels and races reported about F1 and

its meanwhile more than 60 years of existance. One of these

highlights took place at Hockenheim, just around the corner

from where I live. This first Grand Prix for Formula One Cars

came and more than 150.000 spectators followed. It was a

great atmosphere. The summer sun slowly heated up the wood

area down the Hardtbachdamm and at the Ostkurve, a real Pa-

rabolica. In the early afternoon the Motodrom was filled with

people, heat, dust and sound. Like Monza, Hockenheim was

a real slipstream race. And so it came. Jacky Ickx and local

hero Jochen Rindt fought a fantastic race long battle. With

competitors like Siffert, Regazzoni and Amon the group of five

contenders delivered a legendary show. Siffert dropped out soon

unfortunately. Later Regazzoni and Amon had to park their

cars with technical problems. Only two laps before the cheque-

red flag Rindt could overtake Ickx - and the Belgian lost by

only 0.7 sec distance at the finish line. What a great race for a

fantastic new F1 race track.

The painting shows the view along the pit lane straight to Süd-

kurve of the legendary Motodrom of Hockenheim. The original

is in a size of 50 x 64 cm. Framed it will measure 70 x 84 cm.

Pushed by the film ´Live Fast - Die Young´, which is a fan-

tastic documentary film about Jo Sifferts life, I had to start

a new chapter of my art work with him. Jo Siffert made his

way out of Fribourg/ Switzerland to get to race at Monaco,

Le Mans, Nürburgring and Sebring. He worked hard - day

and night - to become a race driver. Driving to the race at

night and qualifiying the day was often the case. His first vic-

tory was in his private Lotus against Jim Clark at Sicily. A

race where the lead changed over the complete race between

the two iconic race drivers. He slowly worked his way up

the F1 ladder, and also raced the Porsche 908s and 917s in

1970 an ´71 to some fine victories. But I painted him next

to his Yardley BRM, in which he won the Austrian GP 1971.

He was not only a swiss hero, his name is well known until

today among those motor sport insiders of the late 60s and

early 70s from all over the motorsport world.

The Monaco Grand Prix was the

breakthrough into the top league of F1

for Sennas Carreer. He lead Alain Prost

by 55sec in the Monaco Grand Prix, when he

hit a barrier. With a little more patience,

he could have won easily. But he was so

focussed on his race, that he just would not

calm down. He said he felt near to perfection

with his Mc Laren Honda that day.
