FROM THE OFFICIAL GOVERNING BODY OF 5/6/7 A SIDE FOOTBALL IN THE UK

COMMERCIAL PARTNERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

The UK Minifootball Association (UKMA) is the national governing body for small sided football in the UK. The UKMA is made up of affiliated members from 5, 6 and 7-a-side football leagues across the UK and has a membership of over 150,000 players. This figure is expected to triple by the end of 2015. Currently our member websites have in excess of 3 million hits annually, and this figure grows year on year.

The UKMA is an independent non-profit making body governed by our members committed to developing small sided football .The role of the UKMA, as the official governing body, is to promote and regulate good governance of minifootball in the UK and increase participation in the sport by developing opportunities for players at a

grassroots level, without discrimination. We run the national 6-a-side tournament each year in Birmingham which is the biggest of its kind in the world, attracting around 300 teams annually, as well as holding the license to supply the England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland 6-a-side teams to represent their countries in European and worldwide competitions.

The UKMA is authorised to operate in the UK under the Statute of the European Minifootball Federation (EMF). The UKMA sits on the Executive Committee of the EMF and participates annually in the European Minifootball Championships.

We are also a member of the fast developing World Minifootball Federation (WMF) and will be participating in the inaugural Minifootball World Championships in the USA in February 2015.

MINIFOOTBALL

What is “minifootball”?

Minifootball is a term commonly used in Europe which simply refers to small sided football such as 5, 6 and 7-a-side games. In the UK there are approximately 1.3 million people playing in competitive small sided leagues, and a further 0.9 million playing minifootball socially, and this number continues to grow year on year. Small sided football is the also the largest grassroots sport in the world and thus is open to all, promoting social inclusion, participation and healthy living. Essentially, minifootball is available to everyone regardless of ability.

OUR AUDIENCE

3

Our audience is made up primarily of males aged 16-35 from across a wide range of socio-economic groups.

One of our key aims is to increase participation for females in minifootball.

As the governing body for minifootball we have access to a huge number of players through our affiliated leagues, and we are able to promote directly to them through email campaigns.

Our reach extends beyond the hits to our own website www.ukminifootball.co.uk as we can also advertise through our affiliated leagues websites, the largest of which received 1.8 million hits in 2013. We also have access to the social media pages of our members.

Our presence in the European and World Championships also opens our organisation up to an international audience. The 2013 European Championships held in Crete were featured on TV in several European nations including Greece, Czech Republic and Romania, and it is expected that the World Championships in 2015 will generate an even greater exposure, including TV channels in America.

PARTNERSHIP

The ProjectWe are seeking core funding for our operations which includes day to day administration costs, hosting the National 6-a-side Championships, participating in the European Championships in autumn 2014 and the World Championships in February 2015.

At present we do not receive any money from the Government or Local Authority and therefore the money we raise through our operations and through sponsorship is essential for ensuring we can continue to work to a high level.
