stability and unity, and red represents energy and
power.
THE UID PROJECT:
Name and logo:
UID project is known as AADHAAR meaning 'support' or 'foundation',
and its logo is a yellow sun with a fingerprint embedded in its centre.
The logo was designed by Atul Sudhakar Rao Pande.
ABOUT UIDAI
The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), is an
agency of the. Government of India responsible for implementing the
envisioned AADHAAR a unique identification project in India.
It was established in February 2009, and will own and operate the
Unique Identification Number database.
The authority will aim at providing a unique number to all
Indians. The authority would provide a database of residents
containing very simple data in biometrics
SAILENT FEATURES OF AADHAR:
Aadhaar is a 12-digit unique number which the Unique
Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) will issue for all
residents in India.
The number will be stored in a centralized database and
linked to the basic demographics and biometric information
– photograph, ten fingerprints and iris – of each individual.
It is easily verifiable in an online, cost-effective way. So also,
it is unique and robust enough to eliminate the large number
of duplicate and fake identities in government and private
databases
The random number generated will be devoid of any
classification based on caste, creed, religion and geography.
LAUCH OF THE AADHAR:
UIDAI launched AADHAAR program in the tribal village,
Tembhli, in Shahada, Nandurbar, Maharashtra on 29
September 2010. The program was inaugurated by
Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh along with UPA
chairperson Sonia Gandhi. The first resident to receive
an AADHAAR was Rajana Sonawane of Tembhli village.
OBJECTIVES OF MY STUDY
To study the process of UID in Jammu and
Kashmir under Jammu & Kashmir bank and
controlling system in Jammu and Kashmir.
To study the different advantages of UID in India
and particularly in Jammu & Kashmir.
RESEARCH METHODOLOGY:
Sources of data collection:Primary as well as secondary methods used.
Sample size:100 respondents.
Sampling procedure:Convenient sampling.
Research design:Descriptive Research.
REVIEW OF LITERATURE:
1] The AADHAR or UIDAI (aka Unique Identification Authority Of India)
API (Application Programming Interface) has been released for
software engineers free of cost. For the uninitiated, UIDAI is India’s
ambitious project to identify every Indian citizen uniquely and
provide them with an identification number which can be used
across India to avail facilities and services. The project is being
headed by NANDAN NILEKANI, former CEO of Infosys – India’s
leading IT service company
NILEKANI’S idea is to accelerate this process by opening the API to
independent software developers and vendors. Using this API,
developers will be able to send the UID of a user to the servers and
the server will respond with YES/NO.

2] Aadhaar project is Unconstitutional- By: Gunjan Singh
Gunjan Singh lawyer has written that the congress party is in herby to
launch its project because they don't have any legal permission and the
government of India has to pay attention towards the constitutional of
unique identification project. They are wasting the Indian people money on
such project and government does not care about Indian money and interest
of Indian public.
According, to Gunjan Singh even the constitution of India has been totally
neglected by Congress government. He further maintains that Congress
government is taking anti national steps and neither the Indian court nor
the Parliament challenging it.
There is no law for Aadhaar project or unique identification authority of
India (UIDAI) and no is there any scrutiny as by the Indian constitution,
There are so many project are already going on Aadhaar should not start in
hurry.
UID – AN UNDERTAKING OF J & K BANK IN J & K
Memorandum of Understanding between the Unique Identification
Authority of India and the Government of Jammu and Kashmir for the
implementation of the UID Project.
Jammu and Kashmir bank has selected prominent system integrator and
service provider. Finacle Software for helping the bank in providing
unique numbers to citizens of the country under the government-led
Unique Identification (UID) or the Aadhaar program.
The bank, which is one of the registrars for UID, gave the project to
finacle through a tendering process.
Under the UID program, a unique 16-digit number is being given to each
citizen with a database of individuals containing very simple data in
biometrics.4 digit of branch code +12 digits ,branch code uniquely
identifies a bank is called sol-id and 12 digits identifies every individual.
FUNCTIONS TO BE PERFORMED BY J & K BANK AS A REGISTRAR OF
UIDA:
Co-operate and collaborate with the UIDAI in conducting proof of concept
(PoC) studies, pilots to test the working of the technology and process of
enrolment in the UID database.
Follow the criteria and processes for appointment of enrolling agencies
prescribed by the UIDAI.
Provide required financial and other resources to carry out the
enrolment processes as per the phasing decided by UIDAI.
Cooperate and collaborate with and provide all assistance and
support to the Deputy Director Generals (DDGs) concerned of the
UIDAI and other staff members/consultants/advisors of the UIDAI
to effectively implement the UID project with Jammu and Kashmir
bank.
Wherever possible, Provide logistic and liaison support to the
staff and representatives of UIDAI when they visit the
Enrolling agencies implementing the UID project.
Work with the UIDAI to resolve difficulties faced on the
ground in the implementation of the UID project.
Follow the process set out by the UIDAI for resolution of
grievances, difficulties and conflict regarding matters
concerning the UID project.
Put in place an institutional mechanism to effectively
oversee and monitor the implementation of the UID project
in general and monitor specifically Enrolling Agencies
IN KASHMIR UID TO WORK AS DATA SECURITY AND
PROTECTION AGAINST FRAUD.
Even as the UIDAI stores resident information and confirms identity to
authenticating agencies, it will have to ensure the security and
privacy of such information.
By linking an individual's personal, identifying information to a UID,
the UIDAI will be creating a transaction identity for each resident that
is both verified and reliable. This means that the resident's identity
will possess value, and enable the transfer of money and resources.
Since the CIDR will store the biometric of residents, identity
fraud will be easier to control. The only form of fraud that may
go undetected in the UID system is if a person registers his/her
details and biometrics under an entirely different name, with
forged supporting documents.
ADVANTAGES & USES OF UID NUMBER:
Increased efficiency in public spending
To control corruption at Govt. offices
More transparent and efficient voting system
Better Tax payments (long way to go ,though.)
UID to offer banking benefits to poor
UID for monitoring education system
IRDA may use UID number for policyholders
UID can control the unknown property
UID number can be used in schools and collages
FINDINGS OF MY STUDY The UID is managed by J& K bank in such a sufficient manner, that
card will effectively check the leakage /corruption in public subsidy
system.
UID in Jammu & Kashmir under j & k bank, acts as a controlling
system besides that, no one will be able to buy or sell property
without UID card, which will not only control the spread of black
money in economy but also increase the tax collection.
For children, the advantages from the UID would be significant.
Child-related programs in India have relied on often inaccurate,
aggregate data at school/cluster/block levels, making these
programs ineffective. An exact database of children with UIDs
would be immensely beneficial to programs within the women and
Child welfare as well as the Education departments, which track
development and progress of children in government schools, and
work to eliminate child labor.
India will be the first country to implement a biometric-based
unique ID system for its residents on such a large scale. The UID
will serve as a universal proof of identity, allowing residents to
prove their identity anywhere in the country. It will give the
government a clear view of India's population, enabling it to target
and deliver services effectively, achieve greater returns on social
investments, and monitor money and resource flows across the
country.
A new report released by the Unique Identification Authority of
India (UIDAI) last week offered to provide millions of poor with easy
banking services in Kashmir especially under j & k bank. It will help
in establishing a microfinance network, with the aim to improve
access to technologies such as mobile phone banking
SUGGESTIONS FROM MY END
The J & K bank should enroll students in the program from the day of
their joining in school.
The J & K bank should open some training centers in different areas to
give proper information about the UID especially to those peoples who
are not aware of UID.
The J& K bank should use highly configured systems to secure database
and should use IT professionals to manage database.
The J & K bank should go for Penal provision of those persons who
intentionally or fraudulently provide wrong information, attempt to
obtain a second unique identity number, steal the identity of any living
or dead person, etc.
The enrolment process for the UID number will begin with a resident
submitting his/her information to the enrolling agency with supporting
documents. J & K bank should verify this information according to the
prescribed verification procedure as per the DDSVP Committee Report.
LIMITATIONS OF MY STUDY
The study was to be completed in a short time; the time
factor put a considerable limit on the scope and the
extensiveness of the study.
Due to the diversity of nature of respondents the
findings of the survey could not be generalized.
Some of the respondents gave ambiguous replies for
certain questions or omitted the responses to some of
them. The interpretation of some responses become
difficult and could generate wrong results. The survey was conducted only in Anantnag district.
