UD HAS NEW HEAD OF CAMPUS MINISTRY

DAYTON, Ohio, August 12, 1980 Reverend Joseph H. Lackner, S.M., Ph.D.,

has been named director of Campus Ministry for the University of Dayton. The

appointment was announced today by University president Brother Raymond L. Fitz,

S.M. Father Lackner assumes his responsibilities on August 15, succeeding

Reverend Urban Rupp, S.M., who has been appointed associate pastor at St.

Anthony Parish in Dayton.

Father Lackner has served most recently as staff member of the Worship

Office of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and as part-time teacher of English

at Purcell High School in Cincinnati. He was director of Campus Ministry

at Thomas More College in Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky from 1972 to 1975.

Since 1964 Father Lackner has held full-time or part~time teaching

positions at a number of institutions, includlng: Covington Catholic High School,

Cathedral Latin School (Cleveland), Parks College, St. Louis University, Thomas

More College, St. Mary's University (San Antonio, Texas)" Athenaeum of Ohio

(eincinnati), and the University of Dayton.

Since the fall of 1978 Fr. Lackner has also been chaplain for the

Inter-Novitiate Program of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and mentor of the

Archdiocese' Lay Pastoral Ministry Program. He has directed numerous retreats

and religious in-service days for teachers, moderated the Miriam Guild, and

served as a board member of the Cincinnati National Marriage Encounter.

Fr. Lackner, 38, is a Cincinnati native and holds degrees from the

University of Dayton and St. Louis University.

in Immaculate Conception Chapel on the University of Dayton campus.
