Speaker Seriesof interaction and sharing from participants. The group will meet the first Wednesday of October, November, and December in Brian’s office, LL Worship Center.

Oct 9 – Pray Big/Tell Stories, Tammy Cline, Evangelism Director, UCUMCHow big do we really pray? God has a heart for the lost and so does UCUMC. Come join us as we discuss the My Hope initiative, praying BIG and telling stories. There will be an opportunity for prayer as well as an understanding of how using your own story helps others. What do a flight simulator and a faith story have in common? Come and find out!

Oct 16 – How to Be Angry and Not Sin, Chad Cozad, Pastoral Care Director, UCUMC God gave us anger but we don’t really understand God’s plan for anger. Come and learn the difference between reaction and anger/God’s purpose for giving us anger as an emotion. Other topics will include Passive/Aggressive/Balanced approaches to anger.

Oct 23 – Praying for Children of All Ages, Jenny Reilly, Director of Christian Education, Salem UMC, Denver, NC. Sometimes our prayers for our children, grandchildren, and other special people, seems to be a checklist. Praying for others can be far more than ordinary. It can be learned and practiced through food, touch, sights, sound, and more. Come explore creative methods that can be used in everyday routines of life, from sitting at a stop light to doing the dishes, all designed to strengthen your connection with God while lifting up those you love and hold dear.

Oct 30 – Let’s Keep It Real, Ray Mckinnon, Christian Service Director, UCUMC If we were each to be honest we have some sort of hurt, habit or hang-up. Have you ever felt like the least safe place to communicate these hurts is with or around your Christian friends? Why is that? Is that the biblical example? Join Pastor Ray in exploring, together, what it means to be real while figuring out how to be folks who are okay with being in process because at the end of the day we each have some hurt, habit or hang-up where we need the light of Christ to shine its hope!
