Presidents’ Message

Nature As My Teacher

Many of you are aware that my office opens out to a patio area that includes afountain, plants, and now a new Angel. I am daily visited by birds and squirrels. Infact this morning for the first time I saw a dragonfly. One of our ministers builtbenches to sit on. I have done a variety of ceremonies including a wedding and anordination on this patio.

I have documented many of my joys and displeasures with the squirrels diggingup plants in The Joyful Noise which is our weekly newsletter. As I described theantics of the squirrels and my frustrations with them, it became a blueprint of thetype of day/week I was having. In the beginning I only saw one squirrel, howeveras time has passed there are at least four now whoregularly visit the fountain for water, leapalong the fence, dig into and knock down plantsand break pots! Some times just as I wasnurturing a plant and it was doing well I wouldcome into the office and upon looking out on thepatio find that that was the one pot the squirrelhad dug in and sometimes found theplant on the ground! For quite a while the squirrelsand I had quite a stand off: they considered thepatio their territory, I did not, and I became moreand more protective of the plants.

After a while I realized that the patio energyalthough good, was not as encompassing as Iwould like it to be and I also realized that I waspart of the problem. It was my animosity towardsthe squirrels, and that also affected my dailyenergy with the people interacting with me. Ibegan to watch the squirrels with a new perspective, instead of seeing them astrespassers. I started watching what they were doing: climbing down the fence todrink water from the fountain, chasing one another along the fence, sometimesleaping along, then into the tree branches as if they were playing tag. Onesometimes lies atop the fence in the sun with his legs hanging down taking a nap. Isometimes think he/she is enjoying just being in the sun.

Presidents’ Message Continued:

What has happened as I changed my perspective isthat the plants are thriving and growing. Thissummer I have seen more birds come and drinkfrom the fountain along with taking baths. There isone who really gets into the water and splashes allover the place, getting so wet that it is difficult forhim to fly up to the top of the fence. Thehummingbirds come every day and of course thedoves. We have had a basket up in the rafters for anumber of years now which the doves have used tonest in. It is quite protected and a number of babieshave flown out of this patio. I have no idea wherethey go once they leave as the parents are onlyaround here when they nest, but they bring such ajoy to my heart. We were recently gifted with a fourfoot angel and yes, she is holding a dove. She hasadded to the loving energy of the patio.

This patio has become quite magical for me and Iknow its energy is meant to be shared. I encourageall of you when experiencing stress of any kind tovisualize yourself sitting on one the benches, listening to the sounds of the fountain and beingembraced in the arms of the angel. Take deepbreaths, feel the Love and Peace the energy of thepatio is bringing to you. Know you are beingprotected and filled with Love. Feel your body relaxand allow yourself to feel and hear the messageSpirit has for you.

With Light and Love,Sandy

How many times in the past have you looked at an area of your life (or maybe all of it) anddecided it was finally time to make a change; it was finally time to transform a relationship, express and fulfill a long-held vision, lose that weight, do an exercise regimen regularly, learna language, stop destructive habits, behaviors and addictions, or let go of anger and fear fromthe past? Whatever it was, you decided it was time to begin life anew, and declared that thiswas the beginning of a new year, a new day, or a new start.

And how often---in spite of all of your good intentions, resolutions, declarations, andpromises ---did you find that, after the initial euphoria and rush of  thinking, "Yes, I can!” youbegan to doubt yourself again and soon found that your thoughts, actions and situations beganto slip back to being much as they had been before, carrying the familiar, predictable andunwanted limitations from the past along with you into the present?

Attempting outer changes alone makes no difference. It is only when a shift in Being occurswithin that one's outer behavior and view of the world alters also.

Is it not folly to expect a new relationship with life to take root without first being willing topull up and let go of the weeds of negative and constricting beliefs, ideas, and emotions thathave shaped and limited your past perceptions, decisions, and behaviors?

If you do not first notice and remove the sharp and poisonous thorns of shame, guilt, apathy, grief, fear, resentment, and anger from the ground of being within your own heart, howcan you hope to allow the love, joy, compassion, and gratitude that are expressions of yourtrue nature to blossom and thrive within and without?

The choice is simple: hold onto to the constriction, bitterness, and pain of past interpretationsabout what happened that guarantee a life of suffering, or dissolve all of that past negativeenergy by releasing it back to the formless and be free to create the present/future newly.

In our conditioned state, we hold onto and store all of the toxic inner mental/emotional"accounts receivable" from the past in our bodies and minds for two reasons. First, to justifyliving as a reactive victim /predator, closed down and armored to protect the survival of thefalse separate "me" from all future real and imagined harm by staying always alert foranything or anybody that in any way reminds us of a past "threat" or danger to our self-image,self-narrative or point of view. Second, to keep a record of what "they owe me" so thatsomeday we can "get even" and square accounts with "he/she/them/it" about what we saidthey did or didn't do. The result of this twenty-four hour a day, fear-driven survival alert isconstant internal and external stress, constriction, ongoing mind chatter, and increasingmental, emotional, and physical degeneration and dis-ease.

Beginning AnewBy Reverend Hal Isen

In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present5

What happens when you dis-identify from and dissolve all of the inner "accounts receivable?"What happens is that there is a lifting and releasing of a heaviness of body, mind, and soul you may not even have realized was present, replaced by a lightness, joy, and senseof well being and inner peace you could not have imagined was possible. Naturally andspontaneously, you find yourself embracing all of life as it is, guided by a loving and infinitecore wisdom within, and experiencing each day newly as "an unfolding work of art."

In some cultures, this action is called, "to forgive." Forgive does not mean to condone oragree with what happened. To forgive is to "give as before. To "give as before" is to stopwithholding, free from the fear-driven game of false security called, "I'll give my love and joy ifI get mine first....maybe." To "give as before" is to dissolve the weeds and thornsof fear, hurt, bitterness, and hate from your heart, and allow the love, joy, and compassionthat are expressions of your true nature to flow freely as a gift to the world.

It is what Gandhi did. It is what Mandela did.

It is what you can do.

Look within. All of the core wisdom principles andtools for completing the past and creating your lifenewly are already there within you waiting for you tosay, "YES!"

All you have to do is apply them.

Or not.

As always, at every moment, it is your free choice.

Ten Minute Stress Relieving Meditations

By Reverend Kala Ambrose

A growing number of physicians and medical centersare suggesting meditation as a holistic practice to relaxthe body and relieve stress. It's exciting to see this formof mind, body and spirit healing being given thecredence and attention it deserves. The act of meditation is one of the most rewarding giftsyou can give to yourself, yet for many, the concept isdaunting. There are those who enter into meditativepractices which evolve into an entire lifestyle, but forthose who have never tried to meditate, the idea of sitting in an uncomfortable positionin complete silence is enough to discourage even the slightest attempt.

This does not have to be the case, as there is a meditation practice suitable for eachtype of person, regardless of their limitations or challenges. Interested? Here's a fewsuggestions to get you started on a meditation practice of your own:First, if you are looking to adopt a meditation practice, begin by disregarding anypreconceived notions of how you think a meditation practice should operate. The key toa successful meditation practice is to create a practice that feels right for you. One ofthe easiest ways to do this is to adopt a simple ten minute meditation which I like tocall... Ten Minute Bliss Breaks Step One: Create a RoutineEstablish a set time which will become your ten minute meditation time. Perhaps you'llwake up early in the morning before the rest of your household to have those quiet tenminutes each day, for others, it might be during the lunch hour outside in a park. Manypeople prefer to meditate in the evening to relax after a busy day and to open theirmind to a deeper dream state.

Step Two: Don't Forget to BreatheCrucial in any meditation practice, is the breath. Regardless of whether you wish tospend ten minutes in meditation or ten hours, slow, deep, methodical breathing willrelax the body and bring in oxygen to both the lungs and blood stream. It will also helpto retain focus and awareness.

Step Three: Relax and Give It and You Some TimeWhen beginning a new meditation practice, you may find that when you take those tenminutes, that it proves to be too difficult to simply relax and think of nothing. Do notfeel concerned, this is your practice and you can create a meditation practice which isright for you at this time. You will find that it will evolve over time as you continue thepractice and in the beginning, even slow relaxed breathing is good for the body and willrelax you. If you're finding it hard to concentrate on nothing, you may prefer to exploreguided meditations.

Ten Minute Stress Relief continuedGuided Meditations

For many people, guided meditations are a wonderful way to meditate. You can listento the meditation on a CD or on your iPod playing it in your home or with headphonesanywhere you are. Simply choose the meditation that appeals to you and enter into thejourney that the guided meditation provides with a guide and relaxing music. Guidedmeditations allow your mind to focus on particular images, allowing for creativevisualization. As a teacher of the ancient wisdom teachings, I created a trilogy of sacredsite guided meditations intended to guide the listener on a journey through nature, along with providing the opportunity to interact with guides and receive messages fromthe higher self. The sacred site trilogy begins with the Spirit of Hawaii to connectwith your spirit guide, from there, the journey continuesin the second CD, with Egyptian Mystery Temple, leading you into the ancient rituals from the temples ofEgypt and the series culminates in the third CD,which is Tibetan Mountain Journey, which focuses onopening and expanding the heart chakra. Each meditationruns for over 30 minutes and a one minute sample ofeach of these meditations can be heard on theExploreYourSpirit.com website.

There are hundreds of guided meditations available, including ones that focus on specific problems as well asothers that simply chant a peaceful message with music. Some days though, you're so busy that you don't haveenough time for a 30 minute guided meditation, butyou still would like to meditate for a few minutes tocenter yourself and relax. Here's how to create your ownpersonal visualization meditation and the only toolneeded is your imagination.

Powerful Stress Relieving Creative Visualizations The act of creative visualization is to create an image in your mind that affects you ina positive way. Athletes have been taught for years how to creatively visualize anoutcome that makes them happy. They close their eyes and see themselves winning therace or the game and imagine the feeling they will have during the event. This sametechnique can be used for your meditation. A very empowering and relaxing way to dothis is to design a sacred space using your imagination. Create a space that becomesyour private retreat and sanctuary, where you can return to and visualize often in yourmind while meditating.

In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present11

Here's How to Create a Sacred Space Using Your Thoughts and Imagination:

As you begin to meditate, picture a peaceful scene that you find relaxing. Perhaps it's thebeach or a mountaintop or a lush garden. Build the scene in your mind, adding beautiful detailsso that it's a warm and welcoming space for you to visit in your mind during your meditation. For example, if you find a garden to be calming, create a bench where you will sit in the garden.See a grove of trees surrounded by flowers blooming in a multitude of color. Listen for thesound of birds chirping, along with the soft breeze blowing through the trees. Tilt your headback and feel the warmth of the sun on your face... Breathe in slow and deep and exhale fully, releasing the air from deep within you. In this imaginary garden of your making, slip your shoesoff and sink your feet deep into the soft grass, flexing your toes.As you breathe in again deeply, take notice of the flowers as their scent fills the garden. Relaxand spend some time in your garden, noticing the sights, smells and sounds of nature.

Now if you wish, while in your garden, you can let go of whatever is troubling you. You maychoose to invite a spirit guide or angel to sit with you on the bench, who will listen to you as youshare your thoughts and concerns. You might create a lake around the garden or a waterfall, and as you swim, you release the cares into the water and watch as they float away. Perhaps apet from your childhood joins you in the garden and you spend time with them, petting andplaying with them, forgetting your cares of the day. Continue building this garden in great detaileach day during your ten minute meditation and visualization until you can see it fully in yourmind and know it well. Then claim this scene as your sacred space. Know that you can returnthere anytime, all you need to do is to sit quietly, breathe deeply and imagine this scene in yourmind. In this space, you can relax and spend a few minutes there every day.

These suggestions of active ten minute meditations are just a few examples of the ways youcan create a mediation practice that is right and comfortable for you. Practiced daily, meditationcan become a profound spiritual practice which can make a significant impact on your day andcreate a sense of relaxation and well-being.

Spirituality Today

By James Wren II

In today's community it might be hard for people to find ways to slow down from their busyschedule, especially in the United States. Many people want to find ways to practice theirspirituality or religion more by wanting to go to church, the temple, etc., but can’t because theyhave too much going on all of the time. To me there is no excuse for not practicing spiritualityevery day. There are many ways to incorporate your spirituality into your every day life withoutit being time consuming.

The easiest way to practice is by just simply talking to your higher power. By doing this youare building a stronger relationship with the higher power, which will in return make you feelmore empowered. Also by using this method you will be getting thoughts out of your mind thatmay link to thoughts/ideas that you may have not thought about that will help youtremendously, or an old idea you had at one time may come back to help you. I usuallyjokingly say that doing this a few timesthroughout the day is kind of like a few “powermeditations”. All jokes aside it is a bit likemeditating because at that moment in time itis just you and the connection you arehaving with your higher power which will allowhigher power energy to come to you. Thisenergy can help you feel better, think moreclearly, and have an all around better day.

This next method I personally do is myfavorite by far but a lot of people may not thinkof it in the way I do. I love to sit in the showerat the end of the day and meditate. There isan energy that is completely amazing when doing this. This time alone can be used to reflecton the day, month, year, or a lifetime. Many great ideas I have had come to me through mynightly session of this. Some people may ask what the difference is between regularmeditations and meditating in the shower is, and the answer is simple. The energy you feelwith the two types are very different. The energy of the water combining with the already highenergy from the meditation is astounding. On a side note for meditation, lying in bed is a veryover looked time to practice meditation. I love to lie in bed and just connect myself to thehigher power and just become a better person. People who start doing these two methods willbe surprised at how many thoughts run through their head that they may have never thoughtbefore. Some of there sessions may actually turn out to be life changing for people. Ipersonally have had many powerful sessions and I would love for others to experience what Ihave felt. If people just try these ways I guarantee that no one will be disappointed.

There are plenty of ways that I haven't touched on that one can use spirituality in theireveryday life but those are the few I most commonly use. I would love everyone to have theconnection they want with their higher power, so these are just some ways I can have a hand inhelping people achieve this. I also just want people to slow down these days and take time toappreciate the small things in life and also appreciate mother Earth. When people slow downthey notice the world in a more broad perspective and appreciate everything much more. Ihope this helps people in their life long spiritual quests.

Love.

I do believe in pastlives and I have had about 250 of them so thatmight explain me a little bit. I do also have somemetaphysical gifts and abilities that are amazingand fun that some people might find “weird” but ohwell!

I won’t go into detail now because I might sharethem in the future. I could go on for a long timetrying to sum myself up but it’s impossible, so I'lljust let everyone try to understand me morethrough my future writings.

Who Are You Really? By Eve Wilson

Who are you? You are an eternal, remarkable, unbreakable God Being.

What are you doing here on earth? Building a body/soul to birth your Self into the world! As an eternal God Being on earth, you have a soul, which is a body of learning that you’vebeen creating for many lifetimes. It is much bigger than what you can experience at onetime in your body. It contains so many skills, experiences and abilities that you will be ableto access as you are ready to use them. But like most people at this time, you probably experience yourself with limitations which are whatfocuses your energy into building the particular strengths, skills and experiences that your soul has contracted toaccomplish in this life time. As you accomplish those things, you will increasingly integrate the higher level gifts that youpossess.

As you fulfill your life contracts so that you can integratethose higher levels of soul your God Self is increasingly ableto live within your experience and run your life to fulfill yourgreatest potential. To use a metaphor, once the vehicle is builtthe driver can get in and drive it. Your real self is the driver;the vehicle, your body/soul is an extension of yourself, whichover time is able to ascend to a level of consciousnesswhere oneness with you, the eternal God Being is experienced.

Looking at your life from this perspective, your body, emotions and mind are all part ofyour vehicle; they are undergoing development and are limited in certain ways in order todevelop the gifts that your God Being needs to possess. As those vehicles grow to fulfilltheir contracts, they also increasingly reveal the presence of your true self. When you seeyour life from the biggest perspective, you realize that to your true self, everything thathappens here is very brief. The difficulties disappear in the bigger picture and what youkeep is the mastery you have gained. The difficulties then become interesting stories toshare with friends and future generations. Maintaining something of this perspective makesit easier to face the difficulties of life. This isn’t a pass or fail test, it is just a step in theongoing adventure of self expression and experience.

There will come a time for every creature in this world where all contracts for growingthrough restriction will be fulfilled and all forms of life will awaken to our true selves. It willbe like an alarm clock going off, where folks suddenly recognize that they can move onfrom limitation into unity with the divine within. This is happening now for increasingnumbers of people and also for other life forms as well. The awakening is scattered hereand there, one from this group and two from another, etc. For those undergoing thisexperience there is generally an option of pushing the snooze button or of just getting outof bed, but eventually all slumbering souls will awaken and their old restrictions will beginto fall away as they increasingly discover their enlightened consciousness within. Therecomes a change of perspective allowing reactions to life and choices to come from a deeperplace of clarity and love.

In Service To Humanity 1908 - Present15

Who Are You Really? continued

You are probably undergoing this process to a greater or lesser degree already. Youcan still choose to distract yourself by continuing to identify with your old limitations, butif you are ready to accept your new experience, you can focus increasingly on thatblossoming truth within.

You’ve probably already noticed an increasing sense that God isn’t far away, but righthere present within you. If you want, you can extend a conscious welcome to your GodSelf to drive the vehicle of your life and see where it goes!

It will take time to pass over control from your limited self to your God Self, tointegrate your higher consciousness and let go of old restrictions. Think of this processas driver’s education, more to educate the vehicle, than the driver in this instance! But,simply welcoming God within you into every circumstance and giving your God Beingauthority to work out your problems, to organize your life and affairs, to direct youremotions and your thoughts along the optimal paths for self realization is an excellentplace to start! You can live this welcome to your God Self moment by moment. Or youcan extend it whenever you remember that you aren’t really your body, emotions ormind, but that you are really an Enlightened God Being waking up within your own life!

Invite God in and let go, let your higher consciousness coordinate the big stuff andenjoy being present in your life, right where you are now. It will take patience to allowlife to bring together the opportunities that are right for you, but you will find that whenthey do come together it will be better than you could have imagined, and easier as well. So, you see, my enlightened God Being Friends, you really are wonderful!

Psyche’s Corner – Tales of Animal Wisdom

Black and White, With the Color of Blue…. TooKitties of Love and HealingBy Rev. Patricia Hull-Anglin

There has always been a karmic connection with the cats of my life. Instant love withmy cats, just like instant love with the men in my life, they have come in colors of black, white, and blue.

Many years ago, there was a feline cat which had a silver blue cast color that came tolive on parent’s county estate, my father named, “Blue”. She was a studious mother ofseveral kittens, an excellent hunter within her country realm of spacious fields she amplyfed her kittens. My family admired her resilience with special respect because of her deepdevotion to her babies. Although, the family of cats always remained wild, they wereloved, with food subsidies of scraps from our table.

Blue, had two pregnancies, of which she gave birth to kittens in my family’s back yard.We never knew what became of the kittens, as she lived a wild life and wastoo shy to be touched by us; even with our loving respect. Then, there was a time, we noticed she wasn’t around toquestion us with begging eyes and we knew she wasno longer with us. We never knew whathappened… except she was gone. But again, thatwas many years ago. The name “Blue” stuck withme as a shy silver cat with a blue cast withcharacter that I couldn’t quite explain.

Over the years, I’ve noticed severalindividuals that have come into my life as studious, but shy with “Blue-cat” overtones in theirpersonalities. How hard they work, how much they give totheir “children or obligations”. They never give up and they always putothers before themselves. They are shy to except praise. They are self sacrificing, deeply loving souls, just like the “Blue-cat” with SILVER fur.

Now, allow time to speed time forth until last summer. A friend gave us a beautiful longhaired creamy white cat, we named Spirit. The cat dander aggravated both me and myson’s allergies, within four days our eyes were itching and watery, plus our breathing wasaffected. Too late, we had already fallen in love with Spirit but could not live with him. Icalled Elizabeth Barton, who took my plight into her women’s healing group. The nextnight the previous owner retrieved Spirit back to save us from suffering while I was nothome. When, I arrived back home more tears flowed from a broken heart than fromwatery allergic eyes. I drove immediately to the previous owner’s house to say myfarewells to Spirit.

Psyche’s Corner – Tales of Animal Wisdom

Black and White, With the Color of Blue…. TooKitties of Love and HealingContinued

Elizabeth’s healing group still worked a small miracle. Sometimes, we are healed in aspecial way and don’t fully understand why things can’t work out because God has otherplans. Then an opportunity presented short haired kitties that lived outside of which myallergies could tolerate. Just a few weeks later our neighbors in the duplex house behindour house asked for us to help feed the two feral cats that had become dependent forthem to feed, one was black and one was silver-blue with white paws. We agreed, bycalling out these wild cats by their color of their fur; “Blackie” and “Blue”. We did notthink before naming the kitties about the politically or socially incorrectness of screamingout into the neighborhood (of which we have done several times in worrisome concern”“Blackie….Blackie…Blue …”) since, we have been ashamed we might insult someone, butthese names have stuck.

There came another couple of months and our be-gone neighbors later moved out, leaving us the permanent caretakers of these wild cats. Blackie, was our favorite, shetook quickly to our love. She moved into our home not causing allergic reactions. She moved into our hearts by doing a little “Blackie Hop” of jumping up as a request to“pet” her. She loves, both giving and receiving.

Since I’ve learned that Blackie is a HEALING CAT with HEALING ENERGIES!!! She alwaysgoes to anyone in need of healing. In fact, she had a special connection with our landlord(regardless of desiring increased money disposition) reassured him whenever he had abroken arm. Also, carefully watching and showing love when I was injured or when myhusband is ill.

Over the last year, Blackie has solidified our family ties, drawing us together to call eachother “Mama” and “Daddy” and our college age son (my husband’s step-son) to include apurring cat. Blackie generously shares her loving attention making sure she shares equaltime between us. The acceptance of Blackie, has bound us together as family in a specialway. This healing cat has healed our family.

As for Blue, she or he is just now allowing us to touch him/her for the first time. But, hewill only come to us on his terms. Our family is still growing…all because of Blackie andBlue and a little Spirit coming into our lives.
