WHAT’S IN THE TEST?The UCAT is a 2-hour, multiple choice, computer based test. It consists of five separately timed subtests which assess a range of abilities identified by university medical and dental schools as important.

VERBAL REASONING

Assesses the ability to critically evaluate information presented in written form.

DECISION MAKING

Assesses the ability to make sound decisions and judgements using complex information.

QUANTITATIVE REASONING

Assesses the ability to critically evaluate information presented in numerical form

ABSTRACT REASONING

Assesses the use of convergent and divergent thinking to infer relationships from information.

SITUATIONAL JUDGEMENT TEST

Measures the capacity to understand real world situations and identify critical factors and appropriate behaviour in dealing with them.

ELIGIBILITYThe UCAT ANZ test is available to any candidate whose educational level at the time of sitting the test is their final year of secondary schooling, or higher. Candidates registering for UCAT ANZ 2019 should have already completed, or plan to COMPLETE their final year of secondary schooling in 2019 (i.e. Year 12 in Australia; Year 13 in New Zealand).

Students whose current educational level is Australian Year 11 or lower are NOT eligible to take UCAT ANZ. This includes Year 11 students undertaking one or more Year 12 subjects. Year 12 students completing Year 12 over two years are only eligible to sit UCAT ANZ in their final year.

HOW DO I BOOK A TEST?The UCAT ANZ is a computer-based test delivered in Pearson VUE test centres throughout Australia and New Zealand and some overseas locations.

You will need to register to take the test via the UCAT ANZ website and book a test at a convenient location and time by 17 May 2019 at 11:59pm AEST. We strongly recommend that you take the test at your earliest convenience in July to ensure places are available at a local test centre.

PHOTO IDENTIFICATIONYou are required to show one form of photo-bearing identification at the test centre. The only accepted forms of identification are:

• Current passport• Current photo-bearing driver’s licence (learner’s

permit, probationary or full licence)• Current photo-bearing Australian Keypass Card• Current photo-bearing Australian Proof of Age Card• Current photo-bearing New Zealand 18+ Card /

Kiwi Access Card

Photocopies of documents and digital forms of ID are not accepted. No other form of identification is accepted.

ACCESS ARRANGEMENTSIf you have any special educational needs which mean you require additional time in exams, an extended test is available. Information regarding these, and other accommodations available can be found on our website under ACCESS ARRANGEMENTS.

It is important to note you can only sit the test once in the July test cycle.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW?The UCAT is unlike most exams you may be used to, so it’s useful to understand what to expect on the day of the test. You should ensure you are familiar with the test centre environment before the day by reading the TEST DAY section of our website.

We do not want you to be turned away from the test centre for presenting the incorrect ID. It is essential that you take the correct photographic identification to the test centre, otherwise you will not be permitted to test. Please ensure you have read the PHOTO ID REQUIREMENTS page on our website ahead of time to organise a suitable form of identification.

You must arrive at the test centre at least 30 minutes before your appointment time. Candidates who arrive more than 15 minutes after their appointment time will not be allowed to take the test and will forfeit their test fee. Refer to TEST DAY information on our website.

CONCESSION SCHEMEIf you are named on a current Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card, both issued by Centrelink, you can apply for the concession fee. The concession fee is not available to candidates sitting the test outside of Australia. For full details of our concession eligibility criteria can be found on the UCAT ANZ website, under CONCESSION SCHEME.
