PRESIDENT’S WELCOME ADDRESS

My elders, chairman, members of the high table, distinguished

guests, my brothers, sisters and my lovely wives. I am very hum-

ble and privilege to welcome you all to the 10th National

convention of Ubulu-Uku USA. On behalf of the associa-

tion, I thank each and everyone of you for taking the time to be

here today. The love is well felt.

Ubulu-Uku USA membership is open to all sons and daughters of

Ubulu-Uku either by birth or marriage. On this note, I will like to

say a very big thank you to all our in-laws.

Ubulu-Uku USA is a 501C (3) organization whose mission is to fos-

ter unit among the sons and daughters of Ubulu while promoting

our culture in the USA and working on the educational, social and

economic development of our home town and people.

The importance of education in a community cannot be over emphasized, so the first mission of

this association is to promote education in a conducive environment for the children of Ubulu-

Uku. Part of this effort include but not limited to the maintenance of existing buildings, devel-

opment of programs that encourages children to continue with their education in spite of the

depressing conditions in Nigeria. Also collaboration with the local government, other Ubulu-Uku

associations, individuals and companies on the provision of continued electricity, clean water

supplies and quality healthcare system that focuses on education and prevention of diseases

and not symptom management.

Tonight we ask you to imagine a day without electricity, tap water and phone then you can

begin to understand why we are pleading with you to support us in making dreams come true

for the children and our families back home. We are open to any kind of support or partner-

ship you or your company is willing to offer in the areas mentioned above. We also know that it

will take time and money to accomplish all this goals and as such we are not just asking for help

for only tonight but for your continued support of Ubulu-Uku USA moving forward.

I pray that God will richly bless you for your presence and contributions today and always.

In conclusion, I will like to thank my families both here in the USA and in Nigeria for their

continued support and understanding of my commitment to this association and development of

Ubulu-Uku. Thanks to the Atlanta chapter of UUU and the wonderful executive members who

worked tirelessly to make night a successful and joyful evening. Please enjoy the night and give

generously to this course.
