    1 INTRODUCTIONy HISTORY

    UBL came in to existence at a very opportune time in Pakistan history in 1959.Political stability had

    been restored , the planning commission has been established, the countrys first 5-year plan (1955-60)

    was launched , industrialization had started in earnest and economic indicators were starting to show

    improvements . I would like to mention here that under the inspirational leader ship ofMr. Aga Hasan

    Abed, the founder General Manager who later assumed the office ofManaging Director was also

    instrumental in creating UBLs perception as a modern, progressive bank.

    How does the plan work?

    Contributions to the plan are invested in an internal investment fund of EFU Life called the EFU Managed Growth Fund andutilized to buy units of the fund from the market. The objective is to maximize capital growth by investing in a balanced portfoliospread across a wide range of shares, government and other fixed interest securities and cash.
