Q. Will customer passwords be migrated over? Or will customers need to set a new password?
Even though Magento 2 changes the encryption model, ourmigrationtoolautomaticallymigratecustomerpasswordfromyourMagento1toMagento2.Noneedtosetnewpasswords.
As you might know Magento CE 2.x changed the method ofhashing passwords from md5() to sha256(). Magento 2 stillsupports the old option md5() providing that the string ‘:0’must be appended to the end of ‘password_hash’. Ourmigrationtoolhandlesthisstepautomaticallyforyou,soyourcustomerscanusetheirM1password(md5()based)asbefore.
After migration, if you wish to upgrade your password_hashusing md5() to sha256(), you can use the command: php -fbin/magento customer:hash:upgrade. Anyway, this step isoptionalthough.
In your Magento 2, you might see both password_hash withsuffix:
• ‘:0’:referstoMagento1Hashoption-md5()• ‘:1’:referstoMagento2Hashoption-sha256()
Once the migration completes, if there is any change to thepasswords in Magento 2, then the password_hash usingsha256()willbeusedbydefault.

Q. I receive a lot of error message related to maximum characters when migrating Sales data. For instance: Mage2SalesOrder: Base Total is too long (maximum is 12 characters).
Magento2itselfdefinesmaximumallowedcharactersforsomespecific fields.WhenimportingyourdatatoMagento2, ifanyfield has the number of characters that exceeds maximumlength defined by Magento 2, then extra characters will betrimmed automatically before such field is imported intoMySQL.
