“The music technology program offers comprehensive training in recording engineering, computer-based music composition and multimedia production, and is the only institution in the state of Alabama to offer professional certification in AVID Pro Tools.”- Dr. Henry Panion, University Professor

“I love learning and working in a Department of Music that is big enough to do great performances, but not so big that people go unnoticed. When we perform on campus or in amazing venues throughout the country and abroad, it feels like you’re working and making music with family.”- Nick Tyler, undergraduate student

The Arts at UAB are integral to that mission, and the Department of Music, in cooperation with the Departments of Theatre and Art and Art History, form a cultural center in the heart of Birmingham’s Southside neighborhood. Our city is home to the Alabama Symphony Orchestra, Opera Birmingham, Alabama Ballet, Chamber Music Society, and a wide range of community arts organizations.
