• Describe how you would begin drawing a floor plan that is 30’-0” left-to-right by 22’-0” front-to-back. Begin with squaring the paper down, and conclude with the drawing of both sides of the exterior walls.

• Identify the dimensions of the following floor plan components in this class: exterior walls, interior walls, exterior doors, interior doors, door jambs.

• Identify the line types and weights in the drawing below:

RULES

1. ALL LINES BEGIN AS LAYOUT LINES. Draw them as far across the paper as you’ll need them.

2. You should only erase layout lines if you’ve made a measuring mistake. Otherwise, the lines are light enough to not be seen.

3. PULL pencil, don’t PUSH

1. Square your paper

2. Draw Border (light) – 2’-0” from paper edges

3. Draw Title Block1. 2’-0” from bottom border (light)

2. Three 0’-6” lettering guidelines (light)

3. Vertical spacers (medium): 8’-0”, 14’-0”, 10’-0”, 6’-0”

4. Scale, Drawing Name, Your Name, Date, Period

4. Darken border lines (very heavy)

6. Find the center of drawing space (light)

7. Lay out extents of floor plan (light)

8. Lay out exterior walls (light) – 0’-6”

9. Lay out interior walls (light) – 0’-5”

10. Lay out doorways and windows (light) 1. Interior Doors = 2’-6”

2. Exterior Doors = 3’-0”

3. Jams = 0’-2”

11. Double-check all measurements

12. Darken all walls with object lines (heavy)

13. Complete fixtures and furniture (medium)
