LITURGY OF THE WORD FIRST READING (Apocalypse 14:13) Read by Angie Gore A reading from the book of Apocalypse. I John, heard a voice from heaven say to me, “Write down: Happy are those who die I the Lord! Happy indeed, the Spirit says; now they can rest forever after their work, since their good deeds go with them.” The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God.

RESPONSORIAL PSALM (Psalm 23) Read by Bev Sullivan R. – The response to the Psalm is: The Lord is my shepherd;

there is nothing I shall want. A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want. R. – The Lord is my shepherd there is nothing I shall want.

Fresh and green are the pastures where He gives me repose. Near restful water He leads me, to revive my drooping spirit.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

R. – He guides me along the right path; He is true to His name.

If I should walk in the valley of darkness, no evil would I fear. You are there with your crook and your staff; with these you give me comfort.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

R. – You have prepared a banquet for me in the sight of my

foes. My head you have anointed with oil; my cup is overflowing.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

R. – Surely goodness and kindness shall follow me all the days

of my life. In the Lord’s own house shall I dwell for ever and ever.

A. – The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.

SECOND READING (Corinthians 13:4-13) Read by Bev Sullivan A reading from the book of Corinthians. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others; it is not self-seeking. It is not easily angered; it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease. Where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child. I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now, we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in par; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. The Word of the Lord. A. – Thanks be to God. Please join with us in the Gospel Acclamation.

Page 9: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

GOSPEL ACCLAMATION (Stand) A. – Alleluia, alleluia. Jesus said, “ I am the resurrection and

the life, says the Lord: whoever believes in me will not die forever.” Alleluia.

GOSPEL (John 6:37-40) C. – The Lord be with you. A. – And with your spirit. C. – A reading from the Holy Gospel according to John. A. – Glory to you, O Lord. Jesus said to the crowd: “All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I shall not turn him away; because I have come from heaven, not to do my own will, but to do the will of the one who sent me. Now the will of him who sent me is that I should lose nothing of all that he has given to me, and that I should raise it up on the last day. Yes, it is my Father’s will that whoever sees the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and that I shall raise him up on the last day.” The Gospel of the Lord. A. – Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ. HOMILY (Please Sit)

Page 13: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

In Him the hope of blessed resurrection has dawned, that those saddened by the certainty of dying might be consoled by the promise of immortality to come. Indeed for your faithful, Lord, life is changed not ended, and when this earthly dwelling turns to dust, an eternal dwelling is made ready for them in heaven.

And so, with Angels and Archangels, with Thrones and

Dominions, and with all the hosts and Powers of heaven, we sing the hymn of your glory, as without end we acclaim:

A. – Holy, Holy, Holy Lord God of hosts.

Heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest.

EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II C. – You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.

Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. At the time He was betrayed and entered willingly into His Passion, He took bread and, giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to His disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT, FOR THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

Page 14: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

In a similar way, when supper was ended, He took the chalice and, once more giving thanks, he gave it to His disciples, saying: TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT, FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS. DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

C. – The mystery of faith. A. – We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your

Resurrection until you come again. C. – Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of His Death and

Resurrection, we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you. Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit. Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring him to the fullness of charity, together with Francis our Pope and Greg our Bishop and all the clergy. Remember your servant Tyrone whom you have called from this world to yourself. Grant that he who was united with your Son in a death like His, may also be one with Him in His Resurrection. Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the resurrection, and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the light of your face.

Page 15: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, his Spouse, with the blessed Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we may merit to be coheirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you through your Son, Jesus Christ. Through Him, and with Him, and in Him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. COMMUNION RITE THE LORD’S PRAYER C. – Let us pray with confidence to the Father in the words our

Saviour gave us; A. – Our Father, who art in heaven,

hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

Page 16: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

C. – Deliver us, Lord, we pray, from every evil, graciously grant peace in our days, that, by the help of your mercy, we may be always free from sin and safe from all distress, as we await the blessed hope and the coming of our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

A. – For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and for ever.

SIGN OF PEACE C. – Lord Jesus Christ, who said to your Apostles: Peace I

leave you, my peace I give you; look not on our sins, but on the faith of your Church, and graciously grant him peace and unity in accordance with your will. Who live and reign for ever and ever.

A. – Amen. C. – The peace of the Lord be with you always. A. – And with your spirit. C. – Let us offer each other the sign of peace.

world, happy are those who are called to His supper. A. – Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my

FINAL COMMENDATION At Renowden Chapel, Springvale C. – Our brother Tyrone has fallen asleep in Christ. Confident

in our hope of eternal life, let us commend him to the loving mercy of our Father and let our prayers go with him. Tyrone was adopted as God’s son in Baptism and was nourished at the table of the Lord; may he now inherit the promise of eternal life and take his place at the table of God’s children in heaven. Let us pray also on our own behalf, that we who now mourn and are saddened, may one day go forth with our brother, to meet the Lord of life when he appears in glory.

SONG OF FAREWELL C. – Saints of God, come to his aid! Hasten to meet him, angels

of the Lord. A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. C. – May Christ, who called you, take you to himself;

may angels lead you to Abraham’s side. A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High. C. – Give Tyrone eternal rest O Lord, and may your light shine

on him forever. A. – Receive his soul and present him to God the Most High.

Page 20: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

Holy Water The celebrant uses holy water as a reminder of Baptism. C. – When Tyrone was baptized, he was baptized into the

death of Christ. The Father has raised the Lord Jesus from the dead, and we too have been raised in him to live a new life for God. Through baptism, we have shared in the death of Jesus in order that we may also share in his resurrection.

In memory of our baptism, we use holy water, and call on the Lord Jesus to welcome Tyrone into the glory of eternal life.

COMMENDATION C. – Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our

brother Tyrone, in the sure and certain hope that together with all who have died in Christ, he will rise with Him. We give you thanks for the many blessings, which you bestowed upon Tyrone in this life: they are signs to us of your goodness and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ. Merciful Lord, turn towards us and listen to our prayers: open the gates of Paradise to your servant Tyrone and help us who remain, to comfort one another with assurances of faith, until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our brother, Tyrone, forever.

Page 21: TYRONE GEORGE GORE

Tyrone, go forth upon your journey from this world in the name of God the Father who created you, in the name of Jesus Christ who died for you, in the name of the Holy Spirit who shines through you. May you rest this day in the peace and love of your eternal home. Eternal rest grant unto Tyrone, O Lord, and let your perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.

A. – Amen. C. – May Tyrone’s soul and the souls of all the faithful

departed through the mercy of God, rest in peace. A. – Amen. C. – In peace let us take our brother to his place of rest. A. – Thanks be to God.
