History

Like many European regions, Tyrol looks back on a very eventful history. Situated in the heart of Europe it has always been at the crossroads from north to south and east to west. Emperors and Popes have shown their interest in this strategic region, but Tyrol has long maintained its independence. Later it became a vital province of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.

Today the former crossroads have turned into transit highways for the growing flood of traffic.
