  2. 2. Typhoon Rammasun, named after a thunder god, struck the Philippines yesterday, the strongest storm tohit the country this year, toppling trees andpower lines andcausing floods andblackouts. Philippine authorities evacuated almost150,000 people fromtheir homes andshuttered financial markets, government offices, businesses andschools. Residents andofficials havenow begun clearing debris, reconnecting power and rebuilding flattened houses. The typhoon, locally known as Glenda, killed at least 38 people, with another eight still missing, rescue officials said. Bewohner undBeamte haben nun begonnen den Schutt fortzurumen, um anschlieend den Wiederaufbau der Huser zu beginnen. Der Taifun, lokal als Glenda bekannt, ttete mindestens 38 Menschen und weitere acht gelten noch alsvermisst gaben die Rettungskrfte an.
