TYPHOON HAIYAN The destruction, the response and

recovery

On Friday 8th of November 2013, an uncharacteristically strong Typhoon struck the islands and communities of the Philippian islands.

With winds between 270 km/h to 380 km/h ripping the roofs off buildings and tearing out trees like they were tooth picks. The strength of this storm was seriously unexpected and most were ill prepared.

Add to that severe costal surges, which had the advantage due to the fact that most of the islands are low lying and rather vulnerable to them. With massive waves that washed over barriers and mixed up all the debris causing more damage.

This Typhoon was the 25th this year and is possibly the strongest yet, and there is the possibility that it will not be the last.

team Indonesia – Logistical aid

including food and medicine UAE - $10m US - $20m in humanitarian aid UK - $16m
