IDEALL Y SUITED as a main amplifier in either AM or FM audio system instal-lations, Western Electric 132 type Amplifiers have a number of features which willhelp give the modern broadcaster high-quality, dependable service.
Compact physical dimensions - low signal-to-noise ratio - gain and outputcapable of providing a suitable margin above line level to allow for losses in linecoupling devices - stabilized feedback to maintain fidelity over the full 50 to 15,000cycle range - these are some of the outstanding qualities found in Western Electric132 type Amplifiers. The components are fully shielded to minimize the effect ofself-generated noise. Resistors in the cathode circuit are provided to permit tubechecks. As well as being able to feed program lines, the 132 type can also be usedto supply many program bus systems or studio auditioning facilities or master switch-ing circuits. The 132 type operates from an external power supply, and is suitedfor either desk or rack mounting.
The 132 type Amplifiers are available as the 132A or 132B, which are similarex t for the input circuit and overall gain. The input transformer of the 132Amay be connected only to unbalanced.to-ground circuits, and has input impedanceconnections for 30/50, 150/250, or 500/600 ohms. The 132B may be connectedto either balanced or unbalanced-to-ground circuits, and has input impedance con-nections for 30/50 or 150/250 ohms. The 132A has an overall gain of 48 db, andthe 132B has an overall gain of 51 db. * On the 132B the center-tapped inputtransformer is provided with an electro-static shield. It also has an extra electro-magnetic shield to reduce hum pickup from a-c magnetic fields which may existfrom other apparatus.
