Select story appropriate to age range ( it should not be too long). Traditional e.g. Hansel and Gretel, Little Red Riding Hood. Modern e.g. Gruffalo, Percy the Park Keeper Read the story to the pupils before the visit. Decide how many scenes are needed to perform the story. Organise pupils into groups and allocate a scene to each group

•Settle pupils in a stimulating location in woods and retell whole story. Class walk around to each scene in the correct order- the story could be re-read along the way or paraphrased by teacher. •Encourage pupils to use natural materials as props/ help create sound effects •In small groups find natural resources to create a picture of the scene allotted to each group. •Create a story board. •Allow pupils to rehearse as a group •Final performance- each group acting out their scene retelling the story (adult support maybe needed to facilitate)
