Perimeter.
The distance around a two-dimensional shape
P= 4s
Word Problem:
If the length of this rectangle is 4 and the width is 10, what is the perimeter?
Answer: 28
Square.
A polygon with 4 equal sides. P= 4s
A= s ²
Word problem:
If the length of this square is 3, and all sides equal the same, then what is the width?
Answer: 3
Rectangle
a parallelogram with four right angles.
P=2l+2w or P= 2(l+w)
Word problem:
If the width of this rectangle is 10 and the length of the rectangle is x2 of the width…what is the length?
Answer: 20
Circumference-
The distance around a closed curve.
Circle C= 2 x (pi) x r or C= (pi) x diameter.
Word problem.
If the diameter of a circle is 12, then what is the circumference?
Remember! ( C= ¶d)
Answer: 37.68
Area (square, rectangle, triangle, trapezoid, circle.)
Area is a quantity that expresses the extent of a two-dimensional surface or shape in the plane.
Square: A=s ² Rectangle: A= lw or A= bh Triangle: A= ½ bh or bh/2 Trapezoid: A= ½ (b1 + b2)h Circle: A= r ²
P- represents the perimeter of the base of a 3D figure.
- represents the area of the base of a 3D figure.
Surface area.
Circle: S= 6s² Prism: S= Ph or S= Ph + 2B Pyramid: S= ½ Pl or S= ½ Pl + B Cylinder: S= 2² ¶r h + 2¶r² or S=2¶r
(h+r)
Volume- how much three-dimensional space a substance (solid, liquid, gas, or plasma) or shape occupies or contains.
Prism: V= Bh Cylinder: V= Bh Pyramid: V= 1/3 Bh Cone: V= 1/3 Bh Sphere: V= 4/3 ¶r³
Word problem.
If the length, width and height of a square is 12, the what is the volume?
Answer: 1,728

Pi (3.14159265)
The ratio of the circumference to the diameter of the circle.
¶= 3.14
Pythagorean Theorem
