Profile Picture vs. Cover Photo

Your profile picture and header photo should be twodifferent pictures.

Your profile picture should be an obvious representation ofyour brand. That can either be a photo of you, or yourbusiness' logo. Keep in mind that when viewing a twittertimeline, the profile picture is quite small.

Profile Picture vs. Cover Photo

Your cover photo will only be seen if someone visits yourprofile. This should be something that compliments yourprofile picture and aligns with your brand.

Picking a Name and Username

@SueBZimmerman as the Twitter handle, This means thatwhen people want to tag me in a tweet, this is what they will

type in.

When people visit my profile, they see my brand becausethe name states: The Instagram Expert.

Use one to complement the other.

Twitter Bio

You have 160 characters to succinctly explain who you areand what you do. Your location and website do not factorinto the character count, so you should be able to stay withinthe limits.

Location

The location will show up beneath your bio, and right next to itwill be the website you provide.

Your location is meant to be general, so just put your city orstate. If you have a brick and mortar storefront your address iseasily searchable on your website or online, If you put an entireaddress, people are less likely to read through to see if you arenear them. You also have the ability to type multiple locations, just separate with the "&" symbol.

Website

This is not the only place for a live link. Any links included inyour posts will be clickable.

Choose the website that you want general traffic to go to. Thisshould be your homepage, a large scale product you'repromoting, or anything else that you want eyes on. You'll beable to drive traffic to any smaller link within your tweets, sothis should not be a blogpost or short video.Tip: use a bit.ly rather than a long URL

Get Started!

Now that you've polished your profile, get your face on the feed.Remember that Twitter is a minute-by-minute platform, so yourposting strategy should reflect that. Businesses should be postingmany times a day.

This might sound overwhelming, but there is nothing wrong withcycling tweets through, as long as they continue to be relevantand add value.

What to Tweet

-Content is King-Interesting Articles -Product Links-Links to your blog-Engage: ask questions!-Respond to others' tweets-Retweet (if you think your audience would benefit)-Be personal-Live tweet: events, conferences, webinars, speaking gigs

Pro tip: never tweet a link without a description of what it willlead to

How to Tweet

To have a presence on Twitter, you've got to post multipletimes a day. Few people have the time to manually post atdifferent times, and that's where scheduling sites are useful. My team and I use Sprout Social which charges a subscriptionfee, but there are many other free sites that have this function.

To tweet, look in the upper right of your screenand click hereOn the desktop, the compose tweet button lookslike this:
