FROM THE DESK OF DEACON GARY It has been noted that every Catholic household should have a Catholic Bible and the Catechism of the

Catholic Church. This week we will talk about a suggested way to read the Bible. Many start to read the

Bible from cover to cover. They begin with the Book of Genesis and proceed book by book. They often

stop at the Book of Leviticus. A suggested method for reading the Bible is to read the books that contain

the basic story of salvation. These books are:

Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, 1st and 2nd Samuel, 1st and 2nd Kings, Ezra, Nehemiah,

1 Maccabees, Luke, Acts of the Apostles

These books trace the progress of salvation beginning with creation through the early years of the

Church. Once you read these books then concentrate on the other 59 books. If you read four chapters a

day from these 14 books, it will take you 90 days, 2 chapters a day will be 180 days and one chapter a day

will take a year. Reading the Bible in this manner will give you a good foundation about our story of

salvation.

OCTOBER-RESPECT LIFE MONTH Respect Life Mass will be celebrated Sunday,

October 7th, 5:30 p.m. at the

Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption,

Saginaw. Bishop Cistone will

celebrate Mass. As a gift from God,

every human life is sacred from conception to

natural death.

STATUS OF ST MARY CHURCH We have been given approval by the Diocese to

officially put St. Mary Church up for sale. A real

estate firm, the Miller Group, specializing in this

activity, has been contacted. A For Sale sign will

be placed on the property shortly. In the

meantime, we will continue to use St. Mary Church

for its current use. We currently plan on a

Christmas Mass at 6:00 p.m. If you have any

questions please contact Deacon Gary directly.

PUBLIC SQUARE ROSARY RALLY Please join the 2018 Public Rosary Rally Crusade.

Our nation is in great need of public prayer,

repentance and conversion. We ask God to save

America through the Rosary of His Most Holy

Mother. Please join us this Saturday, October

13th outside the Pinconning City Hall beginning at

12 noon. Chairs will be set up. For more

information, please contact Ted Beechum 879-

1397. In case of inclement weather we will meet

at church.

MISSION APPEAL

Rev. Michael Carson, representing the Diocese of

Gallup, will be speaking at our Masses on October

13th-14th, supplying us with information on ways

that we might help further the mission works in his

Diocese. The Diocese of Gallup covers over

55,000 square miles of Northeastern Arizona and

Northwestern New Mexico which encompasses

seven Native American reservations and

pueblos. It serves 63,000 Catholics and this

makes it one of our Nation’s largest and poorest

Diocese. A second collection will be taken.
