REFLECTION ON THE LITURGY OF THE WORD A s we move deeper into our Autumn Season and the harvest, our Sunday celebration gives us more harvest images. The workers in the vineyard must cultivate it to produce its fruit. God calls us to work in the vineyard, each doing our part to ensure a good harvest. Jesus promises the Kingdom of God to those who produce its fruit, why we come to Mass each week to be nourished in Word and Sacrament. Isaiah sings of one bearing only wild, unusable grapes, despite the efforts of the owner. Jesus tells the story of a vineyard entrusted to tenants who not only refuse to hon- or the owners claim, but try to seize it for themselves. God’s de- sire is for a fruitful vineyard, that is, a people lovingly tended by trustworthy leaders. We can exam- ine our own lives of faith in light of these readings. What kind of fruit does our faith produce? Let our prayer today be for an increase in our ability to bring our faith to fruition in every part of our lives. Our Psalm Response reminds us: “The vineyard of the Lord is the house of Israel”. We gather in this holy place, this vineyard, where God speaks to the depths of our hearts. Like a careful vine grower, God tills the soil of our lives, making us ready to experience the flowering vines of life, love and compassion. Let us be attentive to the power of God’s Sacred Word proclaimed to us this day Our Parish Mission: By the grace of God, we, the people of the Roman Catholic Parish of Saint Frances Cabrini, firmly rooted in the Apostolic Tradion of the Church and the Holy Scriptures, are called to connue the mission of Jesus Christ to build up the Kingdom of God in the world through our faithful living according to His teachings, our proclamaon of the Gospel by word and deed, and the worship of God in our private prayer as well as in our public celebraon of the Sacraments. O ur new Religious Education Year has begun with remote learning for all our children. It is fitting that the theme chosen reflects this: “I RECEIVED FROM THE LORD WHAT I HANDED ON TO YOU”.

The theme was meant to emphasis the catechists role in the religious formation of their students, but with in home learning we now emphasize the parents role in formation. This is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the role that each baptized person plays in handing on the faith and being a witness to the Gospel. It is an opportunity for all to rededicate ourselves to this mission as a community of faith. The ministry of the Word is a fundamental element of evangelization through all its stages, because it involves the proclamation of Jesus Christ, the eternal Word of God. The Word of God nourishes both evangelizers and those who are being evangelized so that each one may continue to grow in his or her Christian life. This year’s theme is an invitation to focus on the catechists and parents who hand on the faith as witnesses of Jesus Christ. Through their work, many encounter Christ and hear and respond to his invitation to new life. We welcome our Catechists: Kim Vilchis, Roz Tulli, Janice Potack, Angela Proscia, John Barra, Fran Rutigliano, Cathy Cortes, Michael Mignuolo, Joseph Hasavic and our coordinator Marie Nitti.

October is Respect Life Month: Theme “LIVE THE GOSPEL OF LIFE” explores how Jesus becoming man and redeeming us through his humanity reveals the dignity of all human life.
