PRAY AND DON’T WORRY!

Many have expressed having a good deal of anxiety as our nation moves toward the election. I believe we all must simply pray and trust God.

As pastor, I ask my parishioners, every day, until the election on Tuesday, November 3rd, to kneel (if you are able) and to pray from the heart just one "Hail Mary," the "Morning Offering," and one "Our Father." (Recall that Christians throughout the world offer themselves every single day to the Lord Jesus; and, we make this offering to Jesus our Lord through the Immaculate Heart of Mary.)

One Hail Mary, the Morning Offering, and one Our Father each day for 40 days. That's it! Many have already begun to pray. Will you?

Our prayer intention during these final days before the election will simply be:

Through the divine intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God and our heavenly Mother, we pray that the people of the United

States will turn to God wholeheartedly and with complete trust in His Divine will for His children. We also ask the Lord to increase the integrity of heart within all political candidates, to give us good leaders, and we ask him to remove spirits of deception from us all. We also ask the Lord to heal our land, forgive souls for the selfish use of contraception and for the senseless shedding of

innocent blood poured out through abortion; and, we ask that God restore Holy Matrimony and family life, protect children, and bless the

entire world with His Peace.

After offering these three short prayers, we simply must get on with each day, trusting in God. We will leave fear behind us and entrust all anxieties to His holy will. God has the solutions to problems afflicting us all. We need only to trust in Him. His will be done!

COVID-19 UPDATE -- From the Pastor: A few parishioners have asked about lunches after funerals and some have wondered about the possibility of having parish breakfasts and fall dinners. I am sorry to say that given the situation with the increased incidents of Covid-19 cases, there will be no funeral lunches provided at the church and no parish dinners this fall. However, given the fact that our children are able and willing to attend CCD classes, Fr. Basil will resume his RCIA meetings with those who are entering the Catholic Church, but with the so-called “social distancing guidelines.”

Bishop Kagan has kindly reminded his priests that “all of the directives not altered or dropped with regard to COVID-19 remain in effect and are to be observed by all to whom they pertain.” A number of clarifications given involve funerals and parish dinners, liturgical music, and church collections:

1) There are to be no visitation in the church itself, neither the day before nor the day of the Mass. All of it is to be held at the Funeral Home. No gathering in the Church before or after the Mass of Christian Burial.

2) The greatest prudence must be exercised by pastors regarding the holding of Parish festivals and gatherings given the fact that across our Diocese COVID is spiking. We simply cannot put ourselves and our good people in situations where the spread of this virus is facilitated.

3) The number of persons providing music for all liturgies can be expanded to five with the accompanist for a total of six persons. This is the choice of the pastor, but the social distancing for them must be maintained.

4) In regard to Ushers: The Offertory collection and other authorized collections may be

done by using the long-handled collection baskets. The ushers are to wear gloves and

the handles are to be sanitized after each Mass."

A MESSAGE TO ALL KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS: As Grand Knight, I request that we Knights of Columbus, assist our parish priest and fellow parishioners, offering ourselves as living examples of service to our Lord Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory! Each week we need volunteers to: LECTORS (that is, readers) at all Masses. USHERS: To take up the Collection at Masses And to help Mass-goers find seating MUSICIANS AND CANTORS ALTAR SERVERS (one server each week with signed permission slip from parent) CHURCH CLEANERS:

We also have need of Knights and families to help cleanse the church after Weekend Masses (that is, to wipe down pews and doors, and clean the restrooms following Mass each week).

Thank you.

Vivat Jesus!
