Twenty-Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time September 15, 2019

INFANT BAPTISMS The Sacrament is celebrated on Sunday at 1:15 PM. by appointment only. A Pre-Baptism Catechetical Session

is required for parents. Godparents (Sponsors) must be practicing Catholics and at least 14 years of age. A practicing non-Catholic Christian may act as a witness along with a Catholic Sponsor.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS We welcome all unbaptized individuals, friends, family members and neighbors who are not Roman

Catholic Christians or those individuals within the Catholic Tradition who may have never received the Sacraments of the Holy Eucharist or Confirmation to participate in our parish program for adult Christian Initiation at this time. This program is also ideal for baptized Christians of other Christian denominations who are interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith. If you know of someone who may wish to experience the richness of our Catholic Faith and who desires to participate fully in the sacramental life of the Church, please contact Barbara Bunag at 732-257-7722.

MATRIMONY The Sacrament of Matrimony requires an extensive

period of preparation. Contact must be made with Parish Center one year in advance.

MINISTRY TO THE SICK The Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist and the anointing of the sick is available to our parish sick and shut-ins upon request. Please inform the parish concerning the needs of the sick by calling the Parish

Office. If any member of the parish is hospitalized, please notify the Parish Office immediately so that a member of the Pastoral Staff may visit.

PLEASE PRAY FOR THE MEMBERS OF OUR PARISH FAMILY WHO ARE

SICK AS WELL AS THOSE MEMBERS WHO ARE SERVING IN

THE ARMED FORCES

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Bishop Checchio, with the College of Consultors, has given me permission to launch a feasibility study for the renovation of our parish Church of Saint Bartholomew. To conduct our feasibility study, we have retained the services of Ruotolo As-sociates, Inc. of Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey, a national firm with over forty years of experience working with Catholic Churches. Some of the items that need to be addressed in the Church are the ceiling, track lighting, floor, and the Sanctuary. The overall interior needs to be cleaned and painted. I am looking forward to your partici-pation in the study and your prayerful support for a successful outcome to this project. As a parish community we are celebrating 60 years since our founding on June 3rd, 1959. This Anniver-sary year provides each of us with an opportunity to renew our commitment to Saint Bartholomew and our Catholic Faith. Please refer to the Bulletin for more information. May the Lord bless the work of our hands. Pax Christi, Father Thomas

September 14. 2019

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Parishioners,

Our students have enjoyed a wonderful start to the new school year and we have enjoyed having them back in school.

Please join us at Back-to-School Night for parents/guardians of students in Grades 1-8 on September 18. The evening begins at 6:30 pm in the cafeteria where tables will be set up to provide information about after school activities, sports, and spirit wear. Smencils will be sold by our HSA. We will then gather in the Church at 7:00 pm for prayer, teacher introductions, school in-formation, and a presentation by our Home School Association. Parents/guardians will then go to the classrooms to meet the teacher and to receive information and expectations for the up-coming year. There will be 3 fifteen minute sessions. If you have an eighth grade student, please visit Room 207 first for information about this graduation year.

Thank you to all who donated to Hurricane Dorian Relief. I am grateful for your continued generosity.

Please consider volunteering to assist for lunch and recess. Call the office for more information.

Our Home School Association is very active and sponsors many activities and fundraisers. The Magazine Drive has begun. Please see the website for details.

Please sign and return the Emergency Dismissal Form and Handbook Signature Page. Both parents/guardians are required to sign. As noted in the Handbook, students in Grades K-8 may be dropped off at 6:45 am. Two teachers supervise students on the path in the morning, a teacher monitors the door, and teach-ers are assigned duty in the cafeteria. Fr. Thomas and Fr. James are also at times supervising the students in the cafeteria. Please refer to the Handbook for the arrival and dismissal proce-dures in the parking lot. At dismissal, students who ride the bus home are escorted to the bus by a teacher who takes attendance, ensures students are wearing seatbelts, and prays with students before buses are dismissed by Mrs. Laudicina. Students who attend ASC or after school activities are escorted by four teach-ers to the cafeteria and monitored until the ASC staff arrives. Students who are car riders are monitored by teachers at each grade level and are escorted by teachers down the path, where students are met by their parent/guardian or designated person. Students may not walk unattended through the parking lot or play unattended on school property. Pre-K students are dis-missed to their parents/guardians directly from the Pre-K build-ing. Thank you for your cooperation.

A beautiful Mass of the Holy Spirit was celebrated on Friday. Please join us for Mass each Friday morning at 8:30 am.

Thank you for entrusting us with the education of your child. I look forward to a wonderful year as we live our mission: To love, educate and inspire our children to live the teachings of Jesus Christ.

O God of love, compassion, and healing, look on us, people of many different faiths and religious traditions, who gather today on this hallowed ground, the scene of unspeakable violence and pain. We ask you in your goodness to give eternal light and peace to all who died here: the heroic first-responders: our firefighters, police officers, emergency service workers, and Port Authority personnel, along with all the innocent men and women who were victims of this tragedy simply because their work or service brought them here on September 11, 2001. We ask you, in your com-passion, to bring healing to those who, because of their presence here fourteen years ago, continue to suffer from injuries and illness. Heal, too, the pain of still-grieving families and all who lost loved ones in this tragedy. Give them strength to contin-ue their lives with courage and hope. We are mindful as well of those who suffered death, inju-ry, and loss on the same day at the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Our hearts are one with theirs as our prayer embraces their pain and suffering. God of peace, bring your peace to our violent world: peace in the hearts of all men and women and peace among the nations of the earth. Turn to your way of love those whose hearts and minds are consumed with hatred and who justify killing in the name of religion. God of understand-ing, overwhelmed by the magnitude of this trage-dy, we seek your light and guidance as we con-front such terrible events. Grant that those whose lives were spared may live so that the lives lost here may not have been lost in vain. Comfort and console us, strengthen us in hope, and give us the wisdom and courage to work tirelessly for a world where true peace and love reign among nations and in the hearts of all. (Prayer of Pope Francis)

God bless you, Mrs. Ann Wierzbicki, R.N., M.A.E./Ed.S. Principal

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL 11873

Knights of Columbus Council 11873 is asking for your help. On Sep 21st and Sep 22nd, the council will be taking donations to help fund a very special event. All the donations made will be used to purchase Christmas Wreaths which will be placed on the graves of veterans in December. The wreath laying will be done on Dec l4th at the Brig. Gen. William C Doyle Memorial Cemetery in Wrightstown NJ. We are doing this to assist Wreaths Across America to place wreaths nationwide on that day. Last year we, through your donations, were able to donate 515 wreaths. Nationwide, Wreaths Across America placed 1,800,000 wreaths, all on the same day at over 1400 participating locations, and for the first time in histo-ry, WAA placed 9,473 wreaths on the graves at the American Cemetery in France. We now have the capacity to place wreaths on specific graves. If you have a loved one interred at this ceme-tery we can place a wreath for you. All you need to do is give us the name and, if you have the information, the location, and we will take it from there. Please try to help with a donation and help us to surpass our donation of last year.
