The Five Fairport Angels Memorial Scholarship: ($2500) Criteria: The Five Fairport Angels were very involved in the Fairport community and had great pride in their hometown and high school. Write an essay reflecting on your life in Fairport. Discuss how the Fairport community has impacted your life and contributed to the person you are today. What will you take with you upon graduation from Fairport High School?

ó Natalie Hook ~ University of Delaware Pete Georger Memorial Scholarship: ($2500) Criteria: Applicant must be a student athlete who has been proactive in the Fairport-Perinton Community (i.e., in clubs, local foundations, or community service). Minimum 3.0 GPA. Submit essay detailing your involvement.

ó Sabrina Guo ~ SUNY University at Buffalo

Bailey Goodman Memorial Scholarship: ($500) Criteria: Required activity resume should include verifiable involvement in one or more school activities, volunteer community service, part-time employment, and displays of school spirit. Include proof of part-time employment. GPA 90+. Recommendation letter should address that applicant engages well with peers and staff and is confident and friendly. Submit essay, answering the following question: While Bailey loved her time at FHS, she was also looking forward to starting college and leaving behind many of the stereotypes, preconceived notions and activities that defined her. As you enter college, what will you be glad to leave behind and who do you look forward to becoming?

ó Shreya Mocheria ~ University of Pittsburgh Bill Gorenflo Jr. Memorial Scholarship: ($500) Criteria: Submit an essay that describes what a good citizen is and how you demonstrate those characteristics. Include by specific examples how your good deeds have affected you and the person who was the recipient of the deed. This recipient can be family, friends, community member, or stranger.

ó Abriana Arokiaraj ~ University of Rochester Peter Granger Memorial Scholarship: (3 @ $800) Criteria: Applicant has been an FHS baseball player who has been a good role model for others and a good citizen who has exhibited great Fairport Spirit. Coach Granger was the FHS head varsity coach for 11 years. He took pride in teaching his players the valuable lessons that can be learned through participating in sports. Submit essay: The impact the Fairport Baseball program has had on my life.

Submit essay. Title: As you pursue a health-related career, who/what has influenced this decision and how has your education at FHS impacted this decision?

ó Elizabeth McKechney ~ University of Scranton Craig Sherbinski Memorial Scholarship: ($1000) Criteria: FHS senior athlete who embodies, through his or her actions, the characteristics of an admirable friend. Submit essay: Describe the attributes of friendship. Discuss an example in which either you or a friend benefitted from the friendship of another based on the attributes you described. Analyze the way this experience has/or will affect you in future situations. What lesson(s) did you learn and how will this experience impact you in the future?

Ward Memorial Scholarship: ($1,500) Criteria: FHS senior planning to obtain a Bachelor’s Degree who demonstrates an optimistic, hardworking, conscientious approach to school and life, GPA 85-95; submit essay with application. Title: “A Challenge I have Faced and How it Has Changed the Way I Look at Life.”

ó Sophia Socker ~ Canisius College Leonard and Josephine Yates Memorial Scholarship: ($30) Criteria: This scholarship was established by a friend of the Yates family. The interest earned on the Yates Endowment Fund is given annually to a FHS student who demonstrates virtues of patriotism and citizenship. Submit a one page essay with the application answering the following question: What do patriotism and citizenship mean to me and how are they reflected in my interests, activities, or intended career?

ó Jackson Dietz ~ American University Donna Yawman/Fairport Industrial Development Agency Memorial Scholarship: ($1000) Criteria: Applicant must have performed a minimum of 10 hours of community service within the Village within the last 12 months. Beneficiary letter / recommendation acknowledging the community service must be submitted. Also, submit short essay. Title: How community service and leadership experiences have taught me to be a more compassionate leader in the Fairport Community.

ó Timothy Vaquero ~ Northeastern University Donna M. Yawman Memorial Scholarship: ($3000) Criteria: Applicant must submit statements that pertain to at least two of the three criteria below: 1) A demonstrated interest in leadership within the community and/or becoming a catalyst for social change in the community. 2) A demonstrated commitment to spiritual values and integrity. 3) An active appreciation and respect for diversity and advancing career opportunities and responsibilities for women and minorities. Preference (but not mandate) will be given to females and first generation students.

ó Ava McCune ~ The University of Minnesota – Twin Cities FHS Choir Booster Club (Lonnie Arnold Award): ($500) Criteria: Student active in FHS Choral Music Program (includes participation in any or all of the following: Choir, Voice, Musical); Pursuing Voice or Musical Theater in college.

ó Lauren Ronzo ~ University of Tampa FHS Drama Booster Club Scholarship: ($500) Criteria: Applicant plans to continue education in an accredited theater arts program and must have been involved in at least three theater/drama productions during grades 9-12. Activity resume must reflect performing arts related activities. Submit letter of recommendation from a performing arts instructor of who he/she has been a pupil. Submit essay entitled: Why am I involved in theater?

Fairport Field Hockey Booster Club Scholarship: (2@$250) Criteria: Applicant must be a senior varsity field hockey player and player’s parent must be a Fairport field hockey booster club member for two or more years. Player must submit short essay entitled: How playing field hockey has influenced my life.

Fairport Hockey Scholarship: ($300) Criteria: Applicant must be a senior Fairport Varsity Hockey player and must be involved in community service. Current GPA 85+. Must have had consistent improvement throughout high school academic career.

Independence Award: (2@$500) Criteria: Applicant must have demonstrated a degree of self-reliance, maturity, and an ability to persevere despite life challenges. Submit one-page essay: Describe your life challenges and how you have persevered.

Fairport Youth Lacrosse Scholarship: (2 @ $500) Criteria: Applicant must have participated in Fairport Youth Lacrosse (grades K-6) for at least two years and be graduating as a player in the FHS lacrosse program. Submit short essay: The impact that lacrosse has had on my life.

Junior Red Raider Youth Wrestling Scholarship: ($1500) Criteria: Applicant must have two years of wrestling with the Fairport Junior Red Raider Wrestling Program and have wrestled throughout high school on the Fairport High School team. Submit essay titled: How the sport of wrestling has prepared me for life after high school.

ó Patrick Unger ~ St. John Fisher Raiders for Social Justice: (2 @ $2000) Criteria Applicant must submit essay. Title: Describe why social justice issues are important to you, how these issues have impacted your life or specific ways you have or would like to effect positive change.

The Extra Effort Scholarship: ($500) Criteria: Applicant must submit essay. Title: Efforts I have made to improve overall school achievement or within a particular class. Provide recommendation from school counselor verifying the specific improvements documented in your essay.

The May Prize: ($1000) Criteria: Awarded to student who has made the most of his/her abilities and circumstances during high school; two (2) letters of recommendation required: one from counselor, the other from a teacher, coach, supervisor, clergy, etc. stating how that person knows you. Applicant must submit essay. Title: How my experiences and achievements in Fairport Schools (academic and otherwise) have been affected by a unique circumstance.

Moonlight Creamery Future Leaders Scholarship: ($250) Criteria: Applicant plans to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Business, or Agriculture. Submit a one-page essay describing an encounter you had where someone demonstrated tremendous leadership and what you learned from that experience.

Perinton Concert Band Scholarship: ($200) Criteria: Applicant must be a non-music major who plans to continue playing an instrument as an avocation while in college and beyond.

ó Taylor Havens ~ University of South Carolina - Columbia Scollo Insurance Agency – Allstate Scholarship: ($1000) Criteria: Applicant has a valid NYS driver license with no violations or accidents. Provide an original DMV Driving Abstract (available at any NYS DMV office) and letter from insurance company certifying that applicant has had no accidents. GPA: 85+. Essay (2 pages): What are three main distractions that cause teens to have accidents and what needs to be done to prevent them.

Fairport-Perinton Dollars for Scholars (DFS)

p Is a chapter of Scholarship America, organized locally in 1989 by community volunteers p Is not-for-profit, tax exempt and publicly supported p Awards its own scholarships using monies raised through local fundraising activities and from direct donations* p Administers scholarships for other local groups, organizations, and individuals p Benefits from the participation of some colleges and universities which support the national DFS program by

offering matching grants to those students receiving scholarships through their local chapters p Maintains an Endowment Fund with long-term goal of awarding more scholarships p Highlights scholarship winners and local activities in displays within the school district and at the Fairport Public

Library p Bestows an Honor Award on individuals who have made significant contributions to the DFS program
