DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT

To the Assembly of the preachers and delegates of the Penna. and N. J. Dist.: Greetings.

I would have enjoyed much the privilege of being with you in your Assembly but, having received and accepied a call to the pastorate at Terre Haute, md., and being urged by them to move as soon as possible, and they having been without a pastor for about five months and feeling the call of the Lord I considered it to the interest of all concerned to come as soon as I could do so.

In traveling the Dist. as your Supt. we found, as in all work, some things of an unpleasant nature which could be better, yet we will always have ome things to remember with pleasure in meeting with the churches and fellowshipping, with the brethren.

We travelled the work twice, meeting with each chur&i twice with the exception of one or two, it not being convenient with them to have us at that time. There have been three new churches organized during the conference year; one at Muncy, one at Coleville and the other at Lock Haven. All s€em to be in healthy condition. There was a loss of three churches during the year; New Brighton and Holidaysburg disorganiz-ing and Hoffer, not caring to live up with the Manual, with-drew. On making my last visit over the work, I noticed a marked advance in respect to a revival spirit, this was true of almost every church.

The church at Stoudsburg has erected a new parsonage which is now occupied by the pastor. They also finished pay-ing off the debt on the church property. Glen Iron also has purchased a parsonage property and almost have it clear of debt. Milton church also was looking in the same direction. Lock Haven and Easto,n are beginning to plan for better places of worship. It would take too much space to mention all that might be said of each church in relation to their advanced steps.

As to the Beulah Park Bible School, while they have had

Page 25: TWELFTH ANNUAL ASSEMBLY OF THE 3,1itgthn ltinrøø rnrt I LI ...

PILGRIM HOLINESS CHURCH 25

their battles and difficulties there, my daughter found on com-ing here that the work she had done there in the second year high school was almost equal to the third year here. So, while the school there is not accredited by the state board of Educa-tion and credits are not accepted in the public high schools, yet the students are not getting an inferior education.

In our work for the past year we have' preached 173 times, conducted and assisted in six revivals, assisted in two camp meetings. Regenerations 35, santifications 15, baptisms 14, children dedicated 1, cases of healing 1, funerals 1. We have received for ouy support from, all sources on the district $162.30 besides donations of eatables to the amount of $60.00; have paid. out car fare $110.77,. for postage $6.64, other ex-penses $3.15.

We have filled the office about as poorly as any one could have and, while we regret our inability, we want to thank you for every expression of love, sympathy and kindness shown us over the district and for every gift and donation,, large or small, towards our support. May the Lord bless and give you the most prosperous year this next year in the history of the work. If we never meet here again, you may look for me at the marriage supper of the Lamb.

Your unworthy brother in the Lord,

W. J. Crider

RESOLUTIONS OF THE ASSEMBLY

No. 1 Whereas, the Word of God exhorts us to "Abstain from all appearance of evil,"

Be it Resolved that we as a District do register our disap-proval of evangelistic parties traveling together who are of the opposite s.x and neither married nor so related to each other as to do away with the appearance of evil.

No. 2 Whereas, we greatly deplore the fact of the many disrupted domestic and martial relations and whereas,, in many cases of divorce, the cause is to be found in unwise marriages taking place while the parties were in their teens and whereas we affirm that it is an error for our courts to grant divorces except in case of adultery and whereas, in no case should either of the divorced parties marry again in the life-time of the former companion: "A woman that hath a husband i bound by the law of her husband (Not merely as long as he behaveth himself but) as long as he liveth." - Bible. "Wilt thou take this woman to be thy wedded wife, etc. as long as ye both continue chaste? No, but so long as ye both shall live." iViarriage Ceremony.

Be it Resolved that we as a people will continue to oppose this gigantic evil and that we as preachers will refuse to re-marry any divorced parties according to our Manual, Page 3i1, Paragraph 91.

No. 3 Be it Resolved that our 1926 Assembly be held at the same time and place as our Annual Dist. Camp Meeting and that our Conference year be extended to near the time of the meeting of the Assembly, detailed arrangements foi this change to be left in the hands of the Dist. Council.

No. 4 Be it Resolved that we extend our hearty apprecia-tion to the pastor, Bro. H. A. Saneholtz, for his untiring ef-forts to make everything pleasant and congenial, to the Pil-grims of the local church for their kind labors and to the friends and neighbors for their loving hospitalty in so graci-ously opening their homes for the entertainment of the dele-gates and preachers of this Assembly, - said appre&ation to be expressed by a rising vote.

No. 5 Be it Resolved that by a rising vote we express our heartfelt appreciation to our Geni. Supt., Rev. W. R. Cox, for his edifying and instructive exhortations as well as his able and impartial administration in the office of Chairman of this Assembly.

No. 6 Whereas, our Secretary has so faithfullyperformed the arduous labors of his office,

Be it Resolved that we express our heartfelt gratitude to him by a rising vote as well as by a free-will offering at this time.

No. 7 Be it Resolved that we express our appreciation to the press of the city for their kindness in giving fair and impartial publicity to the proceedings as well as the evangel-istic meetings of this Assembly.

Be it Resolved that we ask each local church, through their pastor and delegate, to pledge as amount to the Dist. work and also ask each licensed and ordained, preacher on the Dist. to send fifty per cent of their tithe to the treasury and that each local camp meeting be asked to give a free-will offerino' to the Dist., said funds to be used. at the discretion of the Dist. including the Supt's. support.
