• ‘New’ study suggests teens send around 60 texts a day

– The median number of texts (i.e. the midpoint user in our sample) sent on a typical day by teens 12-17 rose from 50 in 2009 to 60 in 2011

Guidelines for Introducing Conversation

• Be open & honest

• Start with a general question

• Let your teen be the expert on his/her world

• Relate your discussion to things they are interested in

• Make sure your teen is not spending a lot of time in unsupervised situations

• Set guidelines for your teen’s outings
