Overview of the field experiment in JapanOverview of the field experiment in Japan

Period: Nov. 25 – Dec. 4, 2013

Location: Tono city, Iwate prefecture, Japan

Located in 30km away from Pacific ocean coast

Played an important role after the Great earthquake on March 11, 2011 because the city was not swept away but close to the coast.

Wired/Wireless networks were damaged.Flexible and robust wireless networks were demanded.

TV White Space may be suitable for disasterrecovery activities in terms of radio propagation (low path-loss, diffraction, etc.) due to lower frequency band than cellular systems.frequency band than cellular systems.

Need to evaluate based on practicalscenarios.
