WH- question
• There are eight wh-questions, which, what, who, whom, whose, when, where and why and to this list we usually add how as they are all used to elicit particular kinds of information.

Skimming
• We can use wh- question to help student to get an overall picture about the text.
• Alert student about the purpose of certain type of text.
• Eg : - What is the text about?- What is the purpose of this type of text? (i.e. to provide information, to recount an
event, to explain).

Scanning
• It can develop your student ability to locate specific information in a text.- eg: How many cars are there?
• It can improve your student understanding of main details, usually factual information.- eg: which one is Halim favourite food?

• Sentence completion require your students to fill in a gap with up to three words and/ or a number from passage. Student have to scanning reading passage to find the words.- eg: Question :Where did Siti go after recess?Answer : After recess, __________.

Activity 1
• Water Pollution • Ask students to read the text and give
worksheet for the students to work on.• The activities in the worksheet contain cause
and effect skills, making inference skills, and evaluating reading comprehension skills.

Activity 2
• Cinderella Story• In groups, students are given a story which have
been chopped up.• Each paper contain certain paragraph from a story.• Students have to reassemble the story using
prediction skills and sequencing skills. • Then, using their new and prior knowledge, create
their own version of Cinderella Story. (synthesizing skills)
