Thank you for purchasing Google Sweet Spot.

You have in your hands a tool which exposes the Google's Keyword Tool and SERPs.

Let me first give some background information on how this tool came about.

This idea came to me when I was reading something about keyword selection on how to gauge whether the search volume had enough commercial intent to get 100 visitors to your site daily.

It started like this

1 - You want to sell something each day on your site.2 - Figuring out a 1% percent conversion3 - It would take 100 visitors per day and about 3000 over a month to sell something each day4 - Then find long tail keywords with at least 3000 searches per month in the Google Keyword Tool

This sounded good at first. But this is only true if you are getting all the traffic. Several studies are available which have the break down of potential visits for each place in the SERPs.

Here is one study which I use for organic Click Through Rateorganic-click-through-rate-curve

In reality the study points out in some cases #1 ranking generally only gets approx 36% depending on what study you are familiar with, for all the traffic, the other 64% is distributed across the other listings.

So the breakdown goes like this if you want to receive a 100 visitors a day to your web site.

#1 ranking 36.4% - 100 visitors - total 275 daily - 8250 monthy#2 ranking 12.5 %- 34.375 visitors#3 ranking 9.5 %- 26.125 visitors#4 ranking 7.9 %- 21.725 visitors#5 ranking 6.1% - 16.775 visitors#6 ranking 4.1% - 11.275 visitors#7 ranking 3.8 %- 10.45 visitors#8 ranking 3.5% - 9.625 visitors#9 ranking 3.0 %- 8.25 visitors

3 Of 12

Page 4: tutorial SEO google

#10 ranking 2.2 %- 6.05 visitors

Long tail

#1 ranking 25 %- 100 visitors - total 400 daily - 12000 monthly searches #2 ranking 14.3 %- 57.2 visitors#3 ranking 11.1 %- 44.4 visitors#4 ranking 10.1 %- 40.4 visitors#5 ranking 7.5 %- 30 visitors#6 ranking 6 %- 24 visitors#7 ranking 5.5 %- 22 visitors#8 ranking 4.1 %- 16.4 visitors#9 ranking 3.3 %- 13.2 visitors#10 ranking 2.7 %- 10.8 visitors

I know the numbers don't add up exactly to 100% but they are numbers from studies done for how many visitors typically will be spread out depending on your rankings. But you get the idea any ways, you need a lot more visitors than 3000 searches per month if you wish to get a 100 visitors per day.

Realistically speaking to get some sales daily, you need over 12000 searches per month for a keyword since most keywords are long tail. Keep in mind this is if you rank #1 and the visitor is a buyer.

With this in mind lets look at the other requirements of what makes a keyword one to chose.

You need to have commercial intent. What does this mean?

We know if people are paying for advertising there has to be enough money being made to justify the keywords are money makers. Some keywords are better than others, such as buy keywords.

The next requirement is barrier to entry. What this means how many actual results does a keyword have. Lets look at an example.

Here is an actual keyword budgetandbargains.com, enter this in the search box and take a look for yourself.

You will find 302,000 results. You would think this relates to about 30,200 pages with 10 rankings per page, guess again. If you click page 10 then scroll to the bottom it only shows 11 pages and this, at the top Page 10 of about 762,000 results at the top, not matching page 1, strange. Now click page 11 top now shows Page 11 of 106 results when you click page 11.

(Actual results will vary daily, but close enough for an example)

Only 106 results, what happened to the other 301,894 results or 700,000 plus results on page 10, who knows I can't believe they are all duplicate results. This is another one of the Google Search Engine mysterys.

Here is another piece of information, no one is telling you, especially Google.

Page 5: tutorial SEO google

If you have a major one word keyword, Google only displays 100 pages tops no matter what. Try it yourself to prove it to yourself.

This is what Google says about pages being displayed

Sorry, Google does not serve more than 1000 results for any query. (You asked for results starting from 1000.)

So if you really want to know who your competition is you need to know how many actual pages there is. Many times a good keyword has a few pages of results.

Is this keyword HOT or NOT.

I discovered this by accident looking at the trends data. Normally when downloading the keyword data from the keyword tool I already did my sorts in the keyword tool and only interested in using the keywords. In your download file you will see a years worth of data for each months search data.

I decided to plot the data into a line graph and bingo, certain sites triggered me to look into them more closely.

I found some keywords the trend was going up or down and seasonal. With a visual graph it became apparent instantly which keywords to discard.

Lets sum this up

You need at least 12,000 plus searches a month for #1 ranking to get almost 100 visitors to your site.Obviously this is a best case scenario, the types of keywords also have an impact whether they are buy keywords or information gathers. Good to have an optin form to take advantage of the visits.

Next you need to know if advertisers are paying good money for these keywords. You have a chance on making money. Old saying goes follow the money, to be successful.

Don't believe the actual Google Search Engine results to determine if too much competition exists. Check the real numbers get to page 100 fast you can to see if there actually 100 pages of results. Then the actual numbers will reveal themselves whether you have a chance to do something in the SERPs.

Lastly, check the keyword trends, see if your keyword is hot or cold.

The Google Sweet Spot tools automates this for you. All you need to do is download the csv file from the Google Keyword Tool into GSS. You must have a Google Adwords account to get the trend data for the graphs.

Next pick how many monthly searches, I like to use local search data. This closer to what actually

happens, if you get more visitors, Great!

Click the search button and off it goes to get you results, can't anymore simpler.

Let's walk through an example on how to find wide open niches

First go to your Google Keywood Tool, you will need an adwords account to get all the data possible.

When choosing a niche decide what the end result is going to be, do you have a buy page, a review page, information pages for displaying advertising like Adsense.

Not all keywords are created equal, you need to choose what the keywords will do for the end result of the pages on your website.

For the example I will be using the long tail keyword phrase “buy dog online” obviously this is a buy keyword.

Go to your the Google Keyword Tool, enter in the keyword and download all the keywords with the default settings.

Make sure to only download a plain CSV file, DO NOT DOWNLOAD EXCEL CSV it will not work!

Next open up Google Sweet Spot, all you need to do is click the Google Sweet Spot.exe the one with the target image file and it will open up.

See image below once it is open it will look like the image below.

GSS is very easy to run only 3 steps to do

STEP 1 – CLICK 3 BUTTONS, UPLOAD CSV FILESTEP 2 – CLICK CHECK ALL BUTTONSTEP 3 - CLICK SEARCH BUTTONThat's it, can't be any simpler

Page 9: tutorial SEO google

Once GSS is finished gathering your information you will want to save your data to be used later if you wish. The image with the pencil is save as and the other image with down arrow is just plain save.

I recommend the save as it is programed to use the original file name with reload added to it this tells you the file has already collected data and can be reloaded into GSS. You can use either save option both will allow you to reload the collected data

Next step is sorting. All columns can be sorted, results are sorted by string value instead of integer values, to be fixed in future version.

I like to sort the GSSI column first.

GSSI tells you how easy it is to rank, scores 1.0 and higher have the best ratios for ranking

GSSR tells you how much money is being pumped into each keyword from the PPC people

Cells highlighted in Green mean Money score .5 and higher SEO score 1.0 and higher, both cells must meet the requirements to be Green

Cells highlighted in Yellow, Money score is .4 and higher to .5, SEO score 1.0 and higher, both cells must meet the requirements to be Yellow, these keywords are fair.

These are my own indicators to understand the best ratio of pages to ads on each page for SEO. The higher the ads and the lower page count I feel you will have the best opportunity to do well. Using search results mean nothing for competition, page count does, and how much money is being spent for advertising does.

Page 10: tutorial SEO google

The PPC crowd has already figured out the conversions for keywords, why waste their efforts.

The ads are counted across 3 pages with a maximum of 33 ads, 8 on the side and 3 above the organic results, 11 ads per page max totaling a value of 33.

anything above a .3 value in the GSSR column is worth looking at, but values above .5 are prime for picking. You should also evaluate other factors like visiting the SERPs.

You can click any keyword and it will take you to the actual keyword search in Google. This is part of double checking the actual results. 2 windows will open up in your browser for broad match and exact match.

You will be taken to the last page for each of the search results for that keyword.

Another indicator in GSS is the chart function

Check any keyword or more than one keyword and click the graph button

This will take you to your browser window to view the traffic trends over the year.

You must download the local trends from the Google keyword tool for this to work, otherwise the graph function will not work.

10 Of 12

Page 11: tutorial SEO google

The red plot is buy a pet dog you will see this keyword is seasonal for peak visitors on a yearly basis.Buy puppies direct has continuous flow of traffic but has very low visitors including buy dog collars online.

Using the graph will confirm when visitors are more active during the year for keywords.

You view saved data anytime, but you will need to use the load CSV button to do so.

If you wish to do multiple keyword searches, click the reset button and load a new csv file.

GSS, tells it as it is, page count and ads. Competition and Commercial Intent, this is all that is needed to understand if the keywords you choose are worth using for your campaigns.

Pay attention to the types of keyword phrases that have the best GSSR and GSSI scores.

Are they buy keywords, review, information/tire kickers for adsense/cpa offers and so forth. Very important to look at the keyword itself will do for you. Each group of advertisers the paid ads for that keyword tell what action the advertiser is expecting from the visitors. They have done all the work for you. Are they selling something, collecting a list or wanting the visitor to click advertising on the page they direct the visitor.

All things to consider when picking the proper keyword for your sites.
