DO NOT STEAL! www.BeAnime.com 1 How to Draft & Make Fakie Hakama by Samantha Lemieux (`taeliac) Taeliac Studio Cosplay – www.BeAnime.com This tutorial is on how to make fake hakama that are both comfortable and really dramatic and stylized for cosplay purposes. The tutorial will not tell you how to tack down the pleats into straight knife pleats, however, because that will be in a whole other tutorial. This will just tell you how to draft the pattern, and how to put them together. They can be done in one of two ways, depending on what you want them to be like: they can either have an elastic waist, or they can have the slits in the sides, with ties to hold them on. The process is basically the same for both, and I will be showing you how to do them with the elastic waist, but there will be notes when something changes for doing the side slits and ties. This is meant to be an introduction to how to make hakama pants for cosplay purposes. These hakama are not traditional ‐ with this draft, the front and the back of the hakama are using the same pattern. If you want them to be more traditional, however, *you* can go ahead and rework the pattern to allow for a different front and back pleat design.
