Film SynopsisGood-hearted dreamer Larry Daley (Ben Stiller), despite being perpetually down on his luck, thinks he’s destined for something big. But even he could never have imagined how “big,” when he accepts what appears to be a menial job as a graveyard-shift night watchman at a museum of natural history. But during Larry’s watch, something extraordinary happens: the museum’s exhibits magically come to life. A fearsome T-Rex insists on a game of fetch (with one of his own skeleton bones); Mayans, Roman Gladiators, and cowboys emerge from their diorama to wage epic battles; and a wax figure of Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams) gives Larry important advice while harboring a crush for an Indian princess. As things spiral wildly out of control, Larry must find a way to control the magic to stop a nefarious plot and save the museum.

Quick FactsQuick FactsSome of the exhibits that come to live in the film include Theodore Roosevelt, Neanderthal Man, T-Rex, Roman Gladiators and Cowboys… among others. Below are some facts on these historical figures.

CowboysCowboys were hired by cattle owners in the U.S. to look after their stock.Their principal job was to ride over an assigned stretch of range and tend the cattle.Their most demanding job was to move a herd of cattle (500 -15,000 head) to northern ranges or to

market.

NeanderthalsNeanderthal means “Man from the Neander Valley”.Neanderthals lived 230,000-28,000 years ago in Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East. The Neanderthal diet relied heavily on meat, making them skilled hunters, cooperating together in

hunting parties. They exploited the natural landscape to surround their quarry and make a kill at close range. This hunting practice left many Neanderthals with painful injuries.

Neanderthals were capable of speech, but their communication skills were not as advanced as our own. They also seemed to lack an understanding of abstract concepts such as art.

Roman GladiatorsGladiators (from Latin gladiatores) were both professional and amateur fighters in ancient Rome

who fought for the entertainment of its "civilized" spectators.Gladiator matches took place in ampitheatres and were staged after the animal fights and public

executions.Gladiators were typically recruited from criminals, slaves, and prisoners of war.

Theodore RooseveltTheodore Roosevelt was the first president to receive the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE in 1905 when he

negotiated a settlement of the RUSSO-JAPANESE WAR. Roosevelt procured the route for and began construction of the PANAMA CANAL in 1904.In 1903 a stuffed toy bear was given to him which led to the naming of "teddy" bears.Dates of Presidency: 9/14/1901 - 3/3/1909Party: RepublicanFirst president to ride in an airplaneGraduate of Harvard University26th US President

Tyrannosaurus RexTyrannosaurus Rex means Tyrant Lizard KingThe first T-Rex was found in Hell Creek, Montana, USAT-Rex’s arms were only about 3 feet (1 m) long, and it had 2-fingered hands. T-Rex had cone-shaped,

serrated teeth that were continually replaced.T-Rex was a three-toed, meat-eating theropod that lived 68-65 million years ago, during the Late

Cretaceous period.T-Rex is descended from the same ancestor as modern-day birds. T-Rex had toes that pointed

forward, bird-like ankle bones, a wishbone, and air-filled bones (like birds).A teenage T-Rex needed 350–1,000 pounds (160–450 kg) of meat a week, the equivalent of a whole

cow.An adult T-Rex could cover 15 feet (4.5 m) of ground with each giant step. The largest T-Rex was likely 40 ft. in length, and an average IMAX screen is 60ft high and 80 ft wide.

So watching T-Rex on an IMAX screen is like seeing it nearly twice its real size!2
