October 23, 2011 – This Sunday, a 7.2 magnitude earthquake hit the Van province of Turkey, leaving 471 people killed and 1,650 injured. These numbers are expected to rise as rescue crews continue to find survivors.

The epicenter of the 7.2 magnitude earthquake was near Van which has a population of 372,000. Its frequent aftershocks delayed the efforts of many rescue teams.
