TRIVENI GROUP
Triveni Group (est. 1933) is one of the oldest diverse business
conglomerates in India with core competencies in the energy,
sugar, water and wastewater treatment sectors.
Triveni established itself as a Sugar producer way back in 1933
and expanded to 3 major sugar plants in India (at Khatauli,
Deoband and Ramkola) with a combined capacity of
about 25,000 tcd. Making Triveni one of the largest producers
of sugar in India, with production rivalling that of the
entire West Indies.
It was a natural diversification from sugar to sugar machinery
for Triveni. The company started the manufacture of sugar mill
machinery in the mid 1960s. Over the years, capability has been
extended to design, engineer, manufacture and commission
complete sugar plants. Triveni has installed over 45 sugar plants
and has carried out major expansion works for over 18 sugar
plants. Triveni, through a group company, has a collaboration with
Sugar Research International, Australia (SRI) to manufacture and
market the latest products of SRI in the Indian sugar industry.

INTEGRATION OF DIVERSE STRENGTHS
Triveni started the manufacture of steam turbines in
1968, to provide steam turbine solutions for Process Industries
and Power Plants. Today Triveni is a market leader in India with a
market share of more than 60%.
In 1975, Triveni started producing high speed gears and
gearboxes for turbine applications as well as for other
industrial applications. Triveni currently has strategic alliance with
Lufkin Industries Inc., USA to produce gearboxes upto
50 MW capacity
In order to provide various solutions in small power, Triveni
became the packagers of Vericor Power, USA (JV of Allied Signal,
USA and MTU, Germany) for Gas Turbines upto 10 MW capacity
and Waukesa, USA for Gas Engines upto 3 MW capacity.
Triveni commenced the manufacture of surface pollution control
equipment in 1986 and started undertaking the execution
of turnkey water and wastewater treatment plants, thereafter.
The company has gained expertise in water treatment solutionsfor municipal water, sewage treatment, sludge removal,
power plants, steel plants, refineries, distilleries, dairy industries,
common effluent treatment plants, etc. Triveni presently has
a License Agreement with U.S. Filter / Envirex, USA, part of
Vivendi Water, France.

An elaborate manufacturing facility, integrated
with R&D centre, ensures the making of world-class
steam turbines. A pressurised clean room for production and
assembly of blades, nozzles, diaphragms and rotors,
CNC machining for crit ical components represent our
uncompromising attitude towards producing quality turbines.
Triveni has in-house facilities for Hydro-test of turbine casings,
Zyglo for crack detection, radiography, ultrasonic and
dynamic balancing. Each and every turbine manufactured by
Triveni is subjected to extensive in-house testing, including
Mechanical Run Test (MRT) at 110% of design speed with
gearbox fitted. This ensures smooth running, governor response,
safety trips, vibration levels and sound levels are established
before delivery of turbines.

In condensing turbines the energy available in the live inlet steam
is used to the extent possible by expanding the live steam in the
turbine below atmospheric pressure (vacuum). The steam is finally
exhausted from the turbine at vacuum to the surface condenser
where the latent heat of exhaust steam is transferred to the coolingwater. The condensed steam is then returned back to the boiler as
feed water. These turbines are straight-condensing type. These
type of turbines find application where steam is utilized only for
power generation.
The condensing turbine may also have bleed points (uncontrolled
extractions) to satisfy steam demands at medium intermediate
pressures. This provision is applicable when the bleed (medium
pressure) steam volume demand is low and pressure variations
can be tolerated. These turbines are of bleed cum condensing type. These type of turbines find application mainly for power generation
where bleed steam is required for feed water heating (HP heater,
LP heater and Deaerator requirement) and / or where bleed steam
is utilized to meet small process demands.
The condensing turbine with one controlled extraction point is
possible. This extraction steam is also used to meet process steam
demand at intermediate pressure when volume demand is high
and pressure variations cannot be tolerated. These turbines are of
extraction cum condensing type. These turbines are typically used
for co-generation where the turbine meets both the power and
steam demand of the process plant. In these type of turbines the
power generated can be maintained more or less at a steady level
despite variation in process steam demands.
In some cases it may be necessary to have both bleed and
controlled extraction steams from the condensing turbine. Theseturbines are of bleed cum extraction cum condensing type.

Back pressure turbines can either be single stage or multi-stage
which are often used in industrial plants. The turbine serves as a
reducing station between boiler and process steam header. These
turbines can either be used for drive application (sugar mill drive,
sugar fibrizor / shredder drive, pump drives and so on) or powergeneration application in which case the turbine drives the generator.
These turbines are straight-back pressure type. These type of
turbines find application where back pressure steam is fully utilized
to meet process demands. The power generation is incidental to
the process steam demand.
The back pressure turbine may also have bleed points (uncontrolled
extractions) to satisfy steam demands at medium intermediate
pressures. This provision is applicable when the bleed (medium
pressure) steam volume demand is low and pressure variations
can be tolerated. These turbines are of bleed cum back
pressure type.

and controlled extraction steams from the back pressure turbine.
