TundraGeography & Climate

• 6 to 9 month winters make the tundra a very cold place for most of the year.

• Tundras are found in upper North America and North Eurasia

• The soil is not very fertile, for the soil is mostly frozen. This is called permafrost.

tundraBiodiversity

• Plant species: lichens, grasses, and small shrubs.

• Animal species: wolves, song birds, caribou, arctic horses, oxen, hawks, and snowy owls.

tundraAdaptations Needed for Survival

• Animal adaption: wolves have sharp teeth to eat, fur to stay warm, and strong legs to run fast.

• Plant adaption: plants have adapted to the soil. Which is not very fertile

Page 5: Tundra

tundraInteractions of Biotic and Abiotic

• There is very little water in the tundra, so creatures drink as much as they can whenever they can.
