E-Zine

Winter Edition

2011-2012

From our House to Yours :

Thank you so much for the many ways you express you love for us. We are so blessed to share minis-try with you. You really are the best people on the face of the ear th! May your home be filled with an extreme awareness of

His presence and Peace !

You are loved,

Bro. Ron and Karla

From the heart of your D.S. :

Christmas is a time of singing. The Biblical story of the birth

of Christ is full of the songs of those who were willing to fol-

low the directives of God and be used to bring salvation to

the world.

When God revealed his plans to her, Mary sang:

“My soul glorifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God

my Savior for he has been mindful of the humble

estate of his servant... for the mighty one has done

great things for me... Holy is his name. His mercy

extends to those who fear him, from generation to

generation.”

Joseph’s song is not recorded, however his actions revealed

the lyrics:

“ I am not afraid to believe, I am not afraid to follow.

My life belongs to you.”

The angels sang to the shepherds and to all the earth:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace

and good will toward men.”

The prophet Simeon sang:

I can now die in peace, “for my eyes have seen the

salvation which you have prepared in the sight of all

people...”

My question to you is, “ Are you singing?” The Christmas

story if filled with singers who knew only a part of the mag-

nificent story of Christ birth. We know the entire story. Not

only do we know the beautiful Christmas story, but we also

are witnesses of the resurrection. Perhaps, my favorite

Easter song should also be sung at this time of the year:

“He lives! He lives! Christ Jesus lives today. He

walks with me and talks with me. Along life’s narrow

way. He lives! He lives! Salvation to impart. You ask

me how I know he lives ? He lives within my heart!”

Go tell it on the mountain , over the hills of East Tennessee

and everywhere. Go tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ

if born.

Joy to the World, the Lord has come!

Bro. Ron

Trevecca alumni have challenged the alumni of the other seven Nazarene schools to a friendly competition to see who can increase their alumni giving the most. The competition runs through the end of the fiscal year (June 30, 2012). The school with the highest increase in the percentage of alumni who make a gift versus the previous fiscal year will be named the champion. “Trevecca’s alumni gift participation rate last year was 5.3%,” said Peg Cooning , vice president for External Relations. “The bad news is that this rate is half that of Trevecca’s peer schools. The good news is we have great room to grow our percentage of alumni donors!” Gifts of any size, designated to any Trevecca fund count toward the chal-lenge. Alumni couples who make a joint gift count for two donors. “In the stories told by alumni through the years, it is clear that the passion and love they feel for Trevecca is real,” commented Cooning. “And, there is certainly a competitive spirit alumni have among fellow Nazarene universities. Now it’s time for alumni to show their support through a gift. Truly it is our students who win when alumni say yes.”

Gifts may be made online through the website at

www.trevecca.edu/give or mailed to the Office of External Relations, 333

Murfreesboro Road, Nashville, TN 37210. For more information, contact

Peggy Cooning at [email protected] or 615-248-1451.

An NMI Christmas Wish

Merry Christmas…Feliz Navidad

May your Christmas Season be blessed to the degree that you have been a blessing to me! Thank you for allowing me to do the job of NMI Presi-dent, a job that I have come to love. Jim and I cherish the privilege of being your co-workers! We will be travelling with other district NMI Presidents and spouses to India and Sri Lanka March 7-21. We will be privileged to pray with brothers and sisters in Christ, observe their sacrificial work, and take part in Jesus Film showings. Most of my way will be paid from Love offerings from you wonderful people. My husband, Jim, feels very strongly that we should pay for all his expenses out of our own resources. We can’t thank you enough for

the privilege we have to represent our district.

Advent Blessings,

Teresa Hodge

Valentines For Jesus - 2012 It’s almost that time again…time for hearts, flowers, and Valentines

for Jesus offerings! This has become one of the most beloved NMI events on our district. I love hearing about all the innovative ways you help your children raise their offering. Many of our churches begin raising their offer-ings in January to be ready to celebrate at Valentine’s Day!

This year’s Valentines for Jesus offering will provide clean water for

children and their families as our children again build a well!

OUR WORKING WELL IN HAITI!

Kathy Enloe Laskowski reports

that this group of young people

from the Mount Hermon Church

of the Nazarene recently partici-

pated in a yard sale at her home

to raise money for the Haiti Wa-

ter Project. Keiko Terry,

Shanowa Parker, Roman Terry

and Katie and Ben Warren

raised $350.00 to help purchase

filters. Way to go!

PLEASE send your offering to JoAnn Rutherford as soon as it is re-ceived. We will decide WHERE our well will be built when we see how much our children have raised. The choice of field depends on the funds available.

Across the globe in many different containers monies are being collected for Alabaster.

February is Alabaster Month. For great promotional resources, go to www.nazarenemissionsinternational.org/giving, or use ideas on the resource DVD you received at the NMI Conven-tion. Please send your ideas to Teresa Hodge so they can be shared with other presidents on our district. Patsy Hill, Alabaster Coordinator

March 2 is the World Day of Prayer. Watch your e-mail for re-minders and resources from our terrific Prayer and Fasting Coordinator, Molly Saxon, [email protected].
