First of the Year (4:20) Ryan Delahoussaye is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist and Co-Founding member of the Multi- Platinum International touring rock band Blue October. Known for his haunting string performances, mandolin and piano, he is widely regarded as being the unique sound of the band with his electric violin. When Blue October came out of the studio and off the road for a much needed rest, Ryan began working on his first solo EP, Tufstrings. Ryan produced this EP, in it’s entirety. Tim Palmer (Pearl Jam’s Ten, Robert Plant, Jason Mraz, David Bowie’s Tin Machine) mixed Tufstrings, with guitar accompaniment on several tracks, including the two standout tracks, First of the Year and Elegna. On his independently released EP, Tufstrings, he has taken violin to the next level with rich melodic structures that play with your senses. This instrumental EP evokes tremendous emotion and imagery, as it invites you to take a journey with him as he tells a story, from start to emotional finish.
