The baked goods can be cookies, brownies, rice crispy treats, cakes, muffins, or cupcakes. 4-H members will get 3 points for each business they deliver baked goods to. In order to get the points you must come by the office during National 4-H week and sign up for a business and get a flyer that goes with the treats explaining the gift, then deliver the baked goods to the business. Questions call the Extension office @ 435-3831 One Day 4-H event will be held on October 15, 2016. We will collect school supplies for flood victims in Louisiana from 10am to 12pm in front of United. If you would like to help at the booths contact the office. 806-435-3831 Please call by October 12.

National 4-H Week Appreciation:National 4-H week is October 3-7 2016. This year to celebrate this week plus promote Ochiltree4-H in the community, members are encouraged to take baked goods to local businesses inappreciation of their support of Ochiltree County 4-H. It is time we look ahead to the County Stock Show Concession Stand onceagain. We will need a committee of volunteers to help with the success of thefundraiser. It is our largest fundraiser of the year!!! We will hold the firstmeeting on October 26th @ 5pm At the Expo. We need all volunteers to attendthis meeting.

County 4-H Banquet:

The county 4-H banquet will be Monday, October 17, 2016 at 6:00 pm at

the Expo Center. All 4-H members, parents, and volunteers are encouraged

to attend to see the award winners for the 2015-2016 4-H year. This is a

casual banquet but please dress appropriately for pictures.

FoodThe theme this year is Ochiltree County 4-H Family Reunion. Each 4-Hfamily is asked to bring one side dish to accompany a hamburger dinner tofeed at least 8 people. We are asking for volunteers to bake cakes for thebanquet. If you wish to bake a cake please contact the Extension Office 435-3831 by Wednesday, October the 12th.

Set Up and PracticeAll 4-H members are asked to help set up the tables and help decorate start-ing at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 16th, at the Expo. If you cannot come at2pm please come as soon as possible. Ambassadors will practice their speak-ing parts at this time as well. Please bring white Christmas lights labeledwith your name for decoration.

Slide Show Pictures:Each 4-H member is invited tosubmit up to 10 photos for thebanquet slide show. You mayemail them [email protected] bring them by the Extension Officeon a flash drive. Please name eachphoto file with the 4-H event or activity and your name so they canbe saved quickly. Deadline to submit photos is Wednesday, October 12th.

LIVESTOCK RELATED MEETINGS

Sheep & Goat Validation: All 4-H and FFA members showing sheep and goats forall shows including the county show must have them validated and on feed by October 31.This year the validation will take place from 6:00 to 7 pm on Monday, October 24th at theExpo Livestock Barn (pig barn) Bring your sheep and goats to have them tagged. Also youneed to bring your checkbook or cash. The fee is $10 per head. If you have a major conflict with thistime please notify Scott Strawn @ 435-4501, otherwise you are required to have this done at this timeand location.Sheep & Goat Jackpot: The Judy Moore Sheep & Goat Jackpot in Dumas is set for Saturday, Nov.12, 2016. Entries are $25 cash the day of the show. All entries are due at 9 am. The show is at theMoore County Community Building @ 16th and Maddox in Dumas. For more information call806-935-2593. Lamb show is at 10am and Goats will follow.Heifer Validation: All 4-H and FFA members showing beef heifers for all shows including the countyshow must have them validated and on feed by October 31st. Please notify the Extension Office if youhave heifers that need to be validated. The beef validation committee will then schedule the time andplace. Fee is $10 per head. Registered and unregistered heifers may be validated for the county show.Only registered heifers may be validated for major show. More instructions will be given when validationis scheduled.Beef, Swine, and Horse Quiz Bowl: All 4-H members interested in competing on a beef,swine or horse quiz bowl team is invited to an informational meeting on Saturday, October 8, 2016At 9:00am at the Expo Center. We will cover the rules of each contest and discuss how to prepare.We will also schedule future practice meetings and hand out study materials. The meeting will endat 10:00 am. The District contest for the quiz bowls is set for Saturday November 5, 2016 inCanyon.

Raffle Tickets: We are selling raffletickets to help fund different projects forthe upcoming 4-H year. They are $25each and are for a chance to win a $1000gift card. Only 100 tickets will be sold. Wewill draw for the Gift Card at the 4-HBanquet, October 17th. If you have notpicked up tickets to sell please go by theExtension office and get yours. 3 Pointswill be given for each ticket sold.All tickets or money must be turned inby Thursday, October 13th.All unreturned tickets will be paid forby the member that signed themout!!!
