SHOWBUZZ TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 20118ROMEL M. LALATA, Editor

I think KC handled it wellTHE SHOWBIZ world is allabuzz about KC Concep-cion’s exclusive interviewon The Buzz last Nov. 27.

Everyone glued to their TVsets felt sympathy for KC. It wasa moment of sincere emotionand gulat na gulat ang lahatkasi most of us weren’t sure ifthey were still together.

Napabalita na before that, they were having problems na.Noong Sunday lang na-confirmthat they are indeed no longertogether.

I think KC handled it well, notrevealing too much, remainingclassy despite being overcomewith emotion. Naawa ako sakanya. Her statement na, “Hindiako ang kailangan niya” has beenspeculated about and as expect-ed, maraming naghihinala andnagbibiro na baka kasi badingnga si Papa P. I don’t know whatto say about that, sa tingin kohindi iyon ang issue eh. Ang is-sue dito is how he treated her.

Gay or straight, it’s not theissue. Nilagawan pa niya fortwo years and they lasted ayear. KC even revealed na 18 palang pala siya gusto na siyangligawan. It was only when shereturned from abroad na nag-patuloy ito, dahil nagkasamanga sila sa Lovers in Paris and

naging close na rin si KC kahitsa barkada ni Piolo.

KC’s saddest statement, forme, was this and I think manygirls and guys can relate to:

“Nagugulat din ako kasi firsttime ko rin na parang napapamu-ra na rin ako. Hindi naman akoganoon, and bigla na lang akongmaiiyak kasi hindi pala ako okay. And then siya [Piolo], natatawalang siya kapag nakikita kong ini-interview siya. Idadaan lang niyasa joke. Sa tingin ko, ‘Bakit ikawganyan, tapos ako ganito?’”

I believe KC is not withoutfault rin pero wala namang per-fect na tao, lalo na madalas ka-pag na-in love nag-iiba tayo. It

brings out the best and worst inus. I hope KC can recover fromthis and be stronger. I hope herheart heals and I hope she findssomeone who will treat her welland masusuklian ang true andselfless love na obviously binigayniya ng buong buo kay Papa P.

EchoJericho Rosales is rumored to

be dating a non-showbiz girl. When asked about the girl’sidentity, Echo said, “Hindi namansiya showbiz eh so let’s respecther privacy.” He also said he’snot yet ready to give up his localcareer for Hollywood. Nag-enrollsiya sa New York Film Academydahil gusto niyang madagdaganpa ang kaalaman niya. He plansto pursue his international careerone to two years from now pa.

Masaya naman daw siyadahil nabibigyan siya ng maga-gandang projects here. He wish-es Sam Milby luck dahil siya na-man daw tutuloy nang mag-trysa Hollywood.

Encore for CirqueA TROUPE this good deservesan encore, always.

And so, just months afterVarekai, Philippine promoterHoopla announced last weekthe return of Cirque du Soleil toManila.

From Aug. 9 to 19, 2012,Cirque will present its longest-running touring production,Saltimbanco, to Philippine audi-ences—at the new Mall of AsiaArena, which opens in the sum-mer.

“The Philippines is a naturalmarket for us,” David Anthony,Cirque company manager, toldINQUIRER during the launch heldat the Manila Hotel recently.

Anthony said the Manilacrowd had swiftly embracedCirque’s form of entertainment. He offered an explanation: “Fil-ipinos understand ourstyle—which is not surprising, because the Philippines has a

strong tradition of the perform-ing arts. Everyone here loves tosing and dance.”

Varekai had added over 10shows to its run on account ofbrisk ticket sales. It was “verysuccessful,” Anthony pointedout. “Everyone was delightedwith the results.”

Does this mean there is achance that Cirque du Soleilwill set up a Manila base, justlike the one in Las Vegas,Macau, New York, Orlando,Tokyo and Los Angeles?

“Who knows? As ourfounder, Guy Laliberté, wouldsay, ‘impossible’ is only a word,”Anthony quipped. “If responsefor Saltimbanco is just as over-whelming, perhaps we’ll consid-er that.” A resident show inManila isn’t far-fetched, he said, especially since Filipino artistryis acclaimed the world over.

in joining Cirque may check outthe company’s website, he said.“We are always looking out fornew talents—dancers, singers, acrobats, jugglers.”

As envisioned by Laliberté,Cirque has always been open toall nationalities and cultures, added Anthony.

He recalled, “Cirque startedas a group of friends who werestreet performers in Canada.”From that ragtag troupe, Cirquehas grown into a “global organi-zation.”

“Cirque du Soleil has evolvedinto an international culturalicon,” said Christopher Thorn-ley, Canada’s ambassador to thePhilippines.

The new venue is perfect, An-thony said. “After experiencingthe big top with Varekai, Filipinoswill get to watch an arena show.”

Mall of Asia Arena, whichwill be finished by April nextyear, “comfortably seats 10,000,but for the Saltimbanco 6,000seats will be made available,”according to SM reps. BSD Jr.
