TUESDAY DEC 9, 2014 TERM 4, WEEK 10 Picnic Day Next Monday, 15th December is our Picnic Day at Woolgoolga Pool. A separate note with full details and payment envelope will be sent home in today’s newsletter. Cost is $7 per student which covers bus, pool entry and water slides. If your child is ineligible to attend the Picnic Day you will be contacted personally. Any concerns please contact the school. Farewell As this is the last newsletter for the year and, indeed the last newsletter that I will be writing I would like to share some thoughts with you. My 14 years at Corindi have gone so fast and seen many changes. We have gone from 100 students and 4 teachers to 200 children and 8 classes. In total just on 30 people now work at the school. It is probably the second biggest employer after the Blueberries! In those 14 years I have made firm friends among parents and staff. We have been responsible for the education of hundreds of students, many of which I see from time to time. Corindi will stay close to my heart and I hope you support your new Principal as you have supported me. Corindi is a great community and a great school. The children looked magnificent and a big thanks to their parents who supported this initiative. I would also like to thank Mrs Owen who co-ordinated the Farewell along with Mr Taylor and members of staff. Kylie Dillon organised the venue and Mrs Killen the cake. The photo booth was an outstanding success and children should have mementos of the occasion. I would also like to thank Year 6 for their donation of a flag stand and flags to the school. P&C At yesterday’s last P&C meeting the committee donated $6000 to the school to purchase a new interactive television for the Kinder room. It is much appreciated. A big thankyou to Michelle and regulars, Tania Reinecker, Kerrie-Anne Lack, Deb Cox, Heather Wright for their support throughout the year. We also had a visit from the other Heather Wright who will be the Principal from 2015. Presentation Assembly A reminder that this year’s Presentation Assembly will be held at the school on Wednesday, 10th December commencing at 5.30 sharp. There will be a BBQ and drinks stand run by our P&C which will commence at 4.30pm. I have requested the BBQ finishes at 5.30 so as to not have any distractions once the Assembly starts. I would request also that school children stay with their class rather than parents so as to be ready for their presentation. It would also be appreciated if younger children can stay with parents rather than among class groups. School uniform should be worn or, if classes have been told to wear special clothing, they have a clean school shirt to put on after their performance. So as to have children in neat school uniform, Wednesday can be a Mufti day with no donation necessary. Intensive Swimming Students who participated in this year’s Intensive Swimming program received their certificates at yesterday morning’s assembly. Many of our students showed excellent improvement over the ten days and I hope they keep it up coming into the holidays. 1 Where is Mr Rayner?

No Homework this week. Well done to all the children who have consistently completed homework throughout the year. This week we are continuing to practice for our Presentation Night item. Children should be finalising their clothing for Wednesday night. (Theme is Sand, Surf and Sun) Please see me if you have any concerns or problems. I hope to see as many parents as possible on Wednesday night as we celebrate the achievements of so many children throughout all the classes. I hope that everyone has a safe and relaxing time over the Christmas holiday period. Thankyou to all the parents and community members who have helped Year 3 this year.
