It has been great to see so many of you in school to meet with your child’s teacher this week. Staff have reported that they have found the discussions to be extremely valuable and we trust that you have found the extended times useful. If you have any feedback on the process we would be keen to hear this. If you have not yet had the chance to meet with your child’s teacher, please get in touch with them directly and they will arrange an alternative meeting time. We aim to meet with 100% of parents for this important mid year kōrero. Brief written reports will be sent home early in term 3. Matariki Celebration A notice will be coming home today about our traditional Matariki Celebration that will take place on the first day of next term. Please return by Friday 3 July. We will get together at the Wairau Diversion estuary at 6.45am for some kai (bacon sandwiches and hot drinks) and waiata. Ngā mihi o te tau hau Māori

When you wish upon a star… Room One are engaging in Matariki activities this

week, in the lead up to Te Tau Hau Māori (the Māori New Year). Hīwa-i-te-rangi is

our wishing star, and it’s name is connected to a prosperous year. The word ‘hiwa’

means ‘vigorous of growth’, and it is to Hiwa that we send our dreams and desires

for the year ahead.

The tamariki in Room One have been busy making wishing stars. We know that by

supporting each other in our learning, mixed in with our own drive and determina-

tion, our hopes and dreams will be realised together.

We are looking forward to the mid-year break, but we are also excited about the

new learning opportunities and growth we will share together in Terms 3 & 4.
