The Unofficial Newsletter of the Citrus Ridge Neighborhood Association. Editor: Lois Bobbett
From the Boardroom
This has been a really strange spring. To start
with all winter, we had gotten a fair amount of
rain and everything was so green and beautiful,
then came March no more rain and now all is
brown and is now not so beautiful. The worst
that could have happened is the corona virus, it
has turned all of the world upside down. It now
looks like it may not be over very soon in our
park. It seems to be unfair to our Canadian
friends and neighbors, all have had to go north.
To all our neighbors and friends here at Citrus
Ridge please stay safe and stay away from that
dreaded corona virus. We hope that in a few
months it will be gone and in the fall we can all
get together and have a pop or beer and have a
hell of a time.
The next item to share is the March 17, 2020
Annual Members’ Meeting. I would like to say a
special thank you to the people who helped with
the meeting. To start with the Ballot Committee
and all the members who gave reports and a
special thanks to John Woodward for being our
moderator this year. Now I would like to give
you some numbers on the four (4) items that
were up for a vote. They all passed.

Neighborhood Church
We had to reluctantly cancel our services for the
rest of this season, and I know some folks are
disappointed that there won’t be a Palm Sunday
or Easter service. We are planning to resume
2
services on November 8 and our first Committee
meeting will be on the 9th.
We have been blessed to have Sharron Kelsey
providing our music on Sundays. Sue Graham
graciously agreed to fill in when necessary. We
will continue to try and find someone who can
provide our organ/piano music on a permanent
basis. As you know Pam & Jeff Whittington are
an integral part of our service, and when they
have been away, Sharon Schneider and Karen
Mason have filled their respective shoes. Special
Music has been provided by our own Tom Rice,
Louie Mackay, and Gloria & Earl Lowen.
Pastor Bruce, despite family health issues, has
been with us all season. When he couldn’t be
here, Pastor Steve Arnold, Pastor Al Marks and
our own Pastor Phil McClain have filled the
pulpit. God does provide.
I’m not sure you-all know how much it takes to
keep our neighborhood church going – setting up
chairs, preparing the bulletins, preparing the
screen viewing, bible study, paying the bills and
keeping track of donations, preparing the
communion table, organizing the annual dinner,
and finding entertainment for it. Bible Study is
open to everyone once a week and a devotional
(The Word for You Today) is provided to anyone
interested. Then there’s the Ladies’ Salad
Luncheon which is funded by the church, and
organized by Joey Ranta. Our Committee is
pleading for new members. As you well know,
many hands make light work.
You see – we’re getting older and we need folks
to help. It takes communication, caring and
dedication. I believe, as others do, that our
Neighborhood Church provides a strong option,
within our park, for folks of any denomination to
share fellowship and worship God. --Lois Bobbett, Chairperson
CRNA Neighborhood Church Committee
Church Bulletins
Please place your donation in the envelope along
with the deceased person you want
remembered.
The church will host an evening of fine dining,
super entertainment and gracious hostility.

Law of Probability -
The probability of being watched is directly
proportional to the stupidity of your act.
Beautification Wow! What a crazy winter it’s been, I had a list of
things to accomplish for beautification, but didn’t
get to them. I wanted to power wash all the
blocks around the gardens, fertilize all the plants
and put some grass seed down.
Thanks to the following people who donated
items to beautification; Wanda Bialko donated a
watering can, we are using it up at the Activity
Hall, Donna Lee, Fred Jones, and Becky Elliot
donated Hibiscus plants, Dave Duncan planted
one along the cannel and Pat Malmay planted 3
up at the entrance of the park, Frank Harwood &
Colleen MacMillan donated fabric ground cover,
Minnie & Mickie Bouse, from Del Webb, donated
5 rose bushes, grasses, and a bush, I planted them
in the center median. I donated 2 large pots and
put them in front of the new Gazebo and planted
Xora bushes, Tom & Beth Ondrejovic have
offered to water them until they go home. Also,
Liz Kelly donated Christmas plants and a
begonia; I planted those behind the pool,
hopefully. Rick the new owner next to the
maintenance shed, donated pavers and I had 3
wonderful helpers Bob Paige, Brian & Jim Young
moved them up to the Activity Hall. They rebuilt
the ring around the big bush in front of the mail
boxes and added the blocks. They also helped me
with mulch.
Dave & Kathy have been busy transplanting,
weeding and raking up the oak leaves along the
cannel. Dianne Blaine has been working hard at
the Activity Hall, she transplanted grasses,
weeded, raked up oak leaves, planted some
annuals, and mulched. Dianne and I also
trimmed, transplanted ornamental grass,
weeded, and racked the center median. I also, did
some transplanting around the office. Steve has
been maintaining the gardens behind his home.
Karen Crosby has weeded the garden behind the
pool and I mulched it for her.

A great big thank you to Martha Carpenter, who
weeded, trimmed and looked after the gardens at
the north bathhouse, during the summer months,
when Darlene Goad was not able to. Darlene took
the tarp off the fountain and decorated it for St.
Patrick’s Day.
I am honored and thankful to have received the
Volunteer of the Year award. We are so blessed to
live at Citrus Ridge where so many people
volunteer their special talents; this is why our
park is outstanding, so thank you to all of you.
If you are interested in adopting a garden, please
let me know.
Enjoy our beautiful park and stay safe. --Audrey Wise, Lot #386
The Red Hats Our Red Hat season came to an early close this
year. It was an awesome season with fun events,
and adding new Red Hat sisters to our group. I

up sheets at the Club House. All sisters, please
come and help out with whatever you can.
Thank you to all who helped out in anything you
have done. We are a group who have fun and
enjoy each other plus sharing with our wonderful
park. --Queen Bernice Di Lillo, Lot #257

CRA Inc. In February, when the CRA Inc. Board was
planning the March calendar, not in our wildest
dreams could we have imagined the current
situation and the impact the Coronavirus would
have globally and here in our own community.
We want you all to know how sad we were to
cancel so many fun activities, some of which had
been in the planning stages for quite a while,
BUT we also take our responsibility to this
community and its residents very seriously. So
many of us and/or our significant others have
health issues and frankly to err on the side of
caution made the most sense for everyone.
2020 Volunteers of the Year
Congratulations to Audrey Wise and Archie
Ranta. Two great volunteers in our park who
have given of themselves and we have reaped the
benefits. A huge thank you to Audrey and
Archie. We appreciate everything you do for us.
And while we’re on the topic of Volunteers, the
CRA Inc. Board would like to thank everyone
who has volunteered in some capacity to help
make our community a better place. We have a
wide range of activities that can rival 55+
communities twice our size with volunteers who
are very visible, and those who prefer to remain
out of the spotlight but equally as active. Each
one of you is valued, and we hope that you’ll
continue to support the community going
forward.
The yellow Activities Board (currently posted in
the Club House) has filled up very nicely.
However, we still are in need of Chairpersons for
Campfire, Poker, Flea Market, Decorating, Food
Pantry/Delivery, 4th of July Lunch, and Memorial
Day Lunch. Without chairpersons, these
activities will no longer exist so please consider
signing up before next season!
Finally, CRA Inc. Board assignments will remain
the same for the 2020/2021 season:
President: Carolyn Wilson, Lot #311
Vice-Present: Sandy Morgan, Lot #371
Secretary: Linda Marshall, Lot #231
Treasurer: Lucretia Ross, Lot #411

Have a safe and happy summer. We look
forward to seeing you all next fall!

Give Kids the World
We had 21 Citrus Ridge “Angels” signed up for
our last service date of the season at the Village
on March 26 when we received the email on
March 13 that GKTW was suspending operations
due to COVID-19 effective March 18. I’m certain
this was an extremely difficult decision for
GKTW to make, but it was absolutely the right
decision for the health and safety of the wish
children, families, volunteers and staff. As stated
in their March 13 email, the following events
were postponed until the Village is fully
operational:
• 39’r Club Luncheon on March 21
• Henri’s Starlite Scoops Grand Opening
on March 24
• All new volunteer orientations
I can’t begin to thank all of you enough for
volunteering your time and service to the
children and their families during this 2019-2020
season. We had 45 different volunteers
participate in serving dinners at Nancy’s Kitchen
over the four months that we served as a group.
We already have dates assigned to Citrus Ridge
for the 2020-2021 season, so you can mark your
calendars!
• November 26, 2020 (Thanksgiving)
• December 15
• January 28, 2021
• February 25
• March 25
There is still so much uncertainty for us as we
face the effects of coronavirus affecting the world
in which we live. But “sheltering in place” and
being “socially responsible” are all efforts that I
see being practiced by our Citrus Ridge friends
and neighbors every day. A friend of mine sent
me a text message with these words.
Pray for the huggers…we are not okay.
Do you know how hard it is not to hug
when you’re a hugger at heart?!?!?!?
The struggle is real.
We will hug again, and we will share in all our
wonderful park activities again…and we will
keep loving others and giving because we care
about one another. Keep safe this summer, and I
look forward to being together next November 26
with all our Citrus Ridge “Angels” 😊

Thanks for everyone who participated in helping
to make it a success!!! Craft Days are over for the

I am open to suggestions for next season and

Thank You Thank You
There are not enough thank you’s to go around.
People/friends came out of the woodwork to
assist Joan and me with her situation. We
received food from sources I never knew we had
in our park. With the help of these dedicated
food preparers and deliverers. The transportation
volunteers and all those friendly in home
visits…You name it and we enjoyed it. Thank
you all from the bottom of my heart. Joan
sincerely loved the people and life in this park.

"Hospital Regulations"
Hospital rules state that patients checking out must have a wheelchair.
One day a newly graduated nurse assistant came into the room to find an elderly man
fully dressed. He was sitting on the bedside chair, with a piece of packed luggage at his
side, all ready to go.
When he was shown the wheelchair, he was adamant that he was fully capable of
walking himself to the parking lot.
But the assistant told him rules were rules, so he relented and let her wheel him out.
In the elevator, the assistant asked the elderly man if his wife was coming to meet him.
“I don’t think so,” he replied. “It takes her awhile to change her clothes, so she’s probably
still upstairs in the bathroom taking off her hospital gown and getting dressed.”
Those who get too big for their pants will be totally exposed in the end
10
And then there’s this!!!
A police officer pulled over a driver and informed him that, because he was wearing his
seatbelt, he had just won $1,000 in a safety competition.
“What are you going to do with the prize money?” the officer asked.
“I guess I’ll go to driving school and get my license.”
At that moment, his wife, who was seated next to him chimed in. “Officer, don’t listen to
him. He’s a smart ass when he’s drunk.”
This woke up the guy in the back seat, who, when he saw the cop, blurted out, “I knew
we wouldn’t get far in this stolen car.”
At that moment, there was a knock from the trunk and a voice asked “Are we over the
border yet?”
Remember, It’s April 1 Boss said he's going to double my salary and my wife told me to bring someone home for a threesome tonight. April 1st must be my lucky day!
