•Motivation influences:
• Why people decide to do something
• How long they want to do it for
• How hard they are prepared to work to
achieve it
• Usefulness
• Culture
• Self-confidence
• Learner autonomy
• Encouragement from others
• Interest in the learning process
• Is it possible that learners have strong
motivation in one of those areas and little
in another?
• Can motivation change with age?
• How has your motivation to learn new
things changed over the years? What has
caused the change?
• Be a motivated teacher (personal example)
• Prevent anxiety (relaxed atmosphere)
• Interesting, facilitating way to present tasks
• Good relationship with learners
• Increase learners’ self-confidence (they can learn!)
• Interesting classes
• Learner autonomy!!
• Relevant course for students (personalisation)
• Goals awareness (what do they want to learn?)
• Language culture familiarization
