1 Sweeping innovations in tt knowledge force and tt guide
1.1 Fully revamped user interface
Release 2015 of the tt performance suite heralds a fundamental transformation of the software's
look and feel. The most striking change involves the new ribbon design, which can be found in both
the server and client views. During the revamp of all functions, every effort was made to ensure
that commands are now grouped ergonomically and a greater prominence has been awarded to
the most popular and widely used functions. What's more, all buttons have been redesigned, and
both their names and tooltips updated, resulting in a much more intuitive and effortless user expe-
rience.

1.2 Supports password guidelines
It's now possible to impose minimum requirements regarding the user's choice of password for
logging in to the Workbench and Portal. Users can now be compelled to observe certain password
rules regarding the minimum length, the use of upper and lower-case letters, numbers and/or spe-
cial characters, thereby ensuring that 'weak' passwords are a thing of the past. Furthermore, the
system can also be configured in such a way that forces users to change their password after 'X'
number of days. Another optional criterion requires a new password to be different from the user's
'old' one and a specified number of former passwords.

2.1 HTML5 export
Introduced with ttkf 2014 R2 as a ramp-up feature, content can now also be exported in the HTML5
format. For the new version, the export has been enhanced to include the following functions:
· SCORM tracking
· SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 3rd Edition, SCORM 2004 4th Edition
· Quiz in the Study and Assessment modes
· Triggers and animations
· Supports simulation objects from recordings
· SmartComponents (after modification when necessary)
· Multimedia
· Sound
· Video (with the help of SmartComponents)
The HTML5 export largely relies on HTML5 and CSS3 functions, which leads to a number of
benefits:
· Reduced loading times
· Smoother animations thanks to hardware acceleration
· Content adapts to the screen resolution of the device used for playback
· Users can scroll through content by swiping
· Supports a much larger number of devices (e.g. Android).
What's more, five standard SmartComponents are now included. The familiar DotConverter
now also creates paragraph formats which are compatible with HTML5 (for HTML documenta-
tion). Not only that, but the transport function for SmartComponents now also supports HTML5
components.

2.2 Support for voice services
Creating an audio version of lessons with the help of a professional text-to-speech application no
longer requires special licensing or the client-side installation of an appropriate software package:
Known as voice services, these providers offer easy-to-use solutions – usually billed according to
actual usage – allowing users to create attractive, premium-quality audio lessons at the mere touch
of a button. The new release of tt knowledge force supports the use of providers such as Acapela
or ReadSpeaker.
Should the need arise, a proxy server (irrespective of the other proxy settings in ttkf) can be defined
for voice services.
By the way, you won't be charged for temporary sound files generated via the 'Preview' function in
the speaker texts dialog, meaning that the fine-tuning of pronunciation or intonation won't cost ex-
tra.
2.3 Multilingual export of process list
It's now possible to export the process list to a multilingual Excel file. This makes it much easier to
maintain an overview of the process structure when working in a complex, multilingual international
environment, and means that empty nodes which still need to be translated, for example, can be
recognized at a glance.

2.4 Enhanced document list with document URLs
This release supports the optional inclusion of document URLs in the enhanced document list. As
a result, the internet addresses of hyperlink documents are now readily available in the report.

2.5 Upgrade of the 'Test' view (Rollout Manager)
The 'Test' view of the Document Management area now includes a filter option, allowing authors to
quickly and easily modify the number of test scenarios displayed.
Illustration 6: Filtering of test scenarios
In addition to this, there is now a dedicated editing right for test scenarios, thereby allowing access
to be controlled in accordance with the author role.

2.6 Supports single sign-on for the ttkf Client Workbench
With the launch of the new release, the tt performance suite can be integrated into the customer's
existing single sign-on infrastructure, meaning that one authentication procedure grants access to
the entire system. As of release 2015, this now also includes the authoring environment. When
used as part of a cloud solution, tt performance suite uses SAML as the single sign-on mechanism,
which is the de facto standard for integrating internet applications into an existing corporate envi-
ronment.
2.7 Inclusion of media database in rights management
Access to the functions of the Media Library Adapter can now be controlled via the author role
settings.

3 What's new in tt guide
3.1 New design for Guides
The new 2015 version of the tt guide is now better equipped than ever to meet even the most
demanding expectations of a highly efficient, fast and results-oriented tool – thanks to a new display
format. Guides now come in the form of easy-to-follow, step-by-step instructions that include pre-
view videos. This new display mode integrates perfectly into the QuickAccess window to the right
of the application, providing continuous and consistent user support. Existing customers can decide
whether to update to the new help mode, or keep the familiar one (overlay mode).

3.2 Simplified Guide Creator
With the new display format, the Author view (Guide Creator) has been streamlined and is now
much easier to use. The only remaining properties that may be maintained are the "Explanation",
"Interaction settings" and the "Image of the target area". Editing and publishing Guides is now eas-
ier and more straightforward than ever.

3.3 Improved integration with the Windows desktop
QuickAccess will now be displayed next to the desktop. Whenever the guide is being used, it is
automatically anchored to the right of the screen, while the respective target application is down-
sized accordingly. To improve usability, the QuickAccess window and target application no longer
overlap. Users may adapt the guide's position to their preferences via the "Position" option. "Next
to desktop" is the default setting for this option, thereby ensuring that the Guide is positioned as
described above: Upon starting a Guide from the context-sensitive results list, it slides into the
QuickAccess window, using the space available without interfering with the screen layout of the
target application. This means that the user is in no way distracted or interrupted.

3.4 SYNC function in QuickAccess
The SYNC toggle button is also a new addition to QuickAccess. This allows users to control whether
or not tt guide automatically performs a context-sensitive search to match the application which is
currently in focus. When SYNC is OFF, the results list will become static, allowing the user to search
for and open a document that matches the context of a guide that he/she just finished. The SYNC
function will also be disabled automatically upon user input, e.g. when refining a context search by
entering additional search terms.

3.5 Guide reports
Similar to the impressive report functions for tt documents, there is now also a dedicated report
function for Guides which ensures that you always have an overview – even in large, highly com-
plex projects – of all guides (and their properties) which are currently available in the Portal.

3.6 Guide title as file name
Whenever a guide is saved locally, its title is now automatically used as the file name, thereby
ensuring that the name is more 'expressive'. This makes it much easier to relocate a downloaded
guide at a later date.

4 What's new in the system requirements
4.1 SCORM support
Version 2015 now also supports SCORM 2004 4th Edition for a SCORM export.
4.2 What's new in customizing: Filter persistence in the Portal
The Portal can now be customized to keep the same filter settings over the course of several user
sessions. All necessary data are saved on the server, meaning that they are no longer dependent
on locally stored data, such as cookies.
4.3 Whitelist for overlay mode in tt guide
The familiar overlay mode for Guides is now only supported for specific applications. The list of
supported applications is maintained in the system requirements.
