Reflections on Crips and Bloods

Strengths:• A story full of drama• Community is clearly defined• While not exactly participatory, it has fantastic

characters / interviewees, and makes full use of them

• Director clearly has the trust of the interviews (they seem to be confessing to murder)

• Clear conflict• Use of archival footage• Stills mixed with video• Use of music from the ‘hood

Reflections on Crips and Bloods

Problems:• not sure about the structure – it bounces around

from the history to the present a lot• too much Ken Burns effect
