The word “truth” as defined in the Merriam-Webster dictionary states; “a body of real things,

events and facts meaning Actuality”. Going to the Bible and using Exo 34:6 with Strongs’ Number

H571 it means “certainty, trustworthiness, faithful, right, sure, true, verity”. From the New Testament,

Joh 8:32 Strongs’ Number is G225 and it means “truly, truth, verity”. Therefore when applied to God it

has a somewhat deeper meaning than the dictionary, meaning God being trustworthy and faithful

towards us. It defines God’s nature, He is truth, what He says is truth.

Exo 34:6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,

Joh 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Before proceeding further remember that God speaks truth, God does not change, His ways

are higher than man’s ways, He knows more than man, When God tells us to do something He means

it.

Further we are told that God hates lies and liars, which is the opposite of truth. We are told

that we must worship God in spirit and in truth, and the fruit of the spirit is goodness, righteousness

and truth.

Rev 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Exo 20:16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

Joh 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Eph 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)

Joh 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

Truth is linked to goodness and righteousness. Further the Holy Spirit is referred to as the

Spirit of truth, and God’s word is truth. These all reinforce our understanding of the nature of God

Himself.

Joh 14:17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

Joh 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:

Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

As we grow and mature as God’s sons and daughters we are to develop in righteousness and

go forth in truth. Truth is a major characteristic that lights the way forward.

As the end time approaches one of the pre-tribulation predictions is as follows;

2Ti 3:7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth

This has a deep meaning, much beyond what would first appear. What is the knowledge of

the truth ? What truth ? It is the truth of God ! It is knowing God’s character, understanding God’s

personality and what He values and expects from His people. The knowledge of the truth is attaining

an understanding of God Himself. So what is the above verse really saying, it tells us that as the end

times approach, a very large number of people in the churches will spend time learning and studying

God’s Word but never be able to come to an understanding of the truth of God. This verse is

addressing the various congregations of nearly all of the Protestant Churches and their pastors, they

study and learn but the main important learning of God’s Holy Word evades them. Their Bible study

groups and the various sermons do not result in understanding of the Truth of God. In the last 10-20

years, Church Bible study groups have become trendy and are found in most all the Churches. It

coincides with Churches trying to rejuvenate their congregation attendance along with life generally

becoming somewhat easier with more free time. The above scripture of second Timothy tells us as the

end approaches, the Churches and congregations have totally missed the boat, they will be studying

and learning but not being able to see and understand the truth of God.

The Bible defines God’s Truth which is covered extensively in the first five books of the Bible.

This is known as the Pentateuch and also as the Torah. The Hebrew word describing the first five

books is “Torah”. Unfortunately Bible translators have taken this Hebrew word to mean “Law”. It

means much more than this. The Strong Number is H8451 and only gives one a translated meaning

of Law. The word Torah comes from a root Hebrew word, of to flow or throw something, to guide, to

teach, to give instruction. The word Torah really means “instruction designed to teach us the truth of

God”. This is much deeper in meaning than the way it has been translated in most Bibles as “Law”.

Thus the first five books of the Bible are extremely important, they are our guide to teach us and show

us the way forward, the way that conforms to God’s way or the truth. The Torah along with Jesus

instructions defies the narrow path that we are to walk.

The truth of God is found from study of the Torah, but nearly all Churches state that the Torah

is done away with, that it is no longer required. They interpret that the commandments or laws given

in the Torah no longer apply, and use different verses taken from the New Testament to try and

support their assumptions. Let us examine what scripture tells us to keep the Torah, for this we will

use “The Scriptures Bible” since it uses the word Torah rather than Law.

The following verses are a few selected from the Old Testament, they refer to the Torah as

directives given by God.

Exo 24:12 And יהוה said to Mosheh, “Come up to Me on the mountain and be there, while I give you tablets of stone, and the Torah and the command which I have written, to teach them.”

Deu 4:44 And this is the Torah which Mosheh set before the children of Yisra’ěl.

Deu 17:19 “And it shall be with him, and he shall read it all the days of his life, so that he learns to fear יהוה his Elohim and guard all the Words of this Torah and these laws, to do them,

Deu 29:29 “The secret matters belong to יהוה our Elohim, but what is revealed belongs to us and to our children forever, to do all the Words of this Torah.

Deu 31:9 And Mosheh wrote this Torah and gave it to the priests, the sons of Lěwi, who bore the ark of the covenant of יהוה, and to all the elders of Yisra’ěl.

Deu 31:12 “Assemble the people, the men and the women and the little ones, and your sojourner who is within your gates, so that they hear, and so that they learn to fear יהוה your Elohim and guard to do all the Words of this Torah.

Psa 1:2 But his delight is in the Torah of יהוה, And he meditates in His Torah day and night.

Psa 19:7 The Torah of יהוה is perfect, bringing back the being; The witness of יהוה is trustworthy, making wise the simple;

Psa 37:31 The Torah of his Elohim is in his heart;b His steps do not slide. Footnote: b Deu_6:6, Psa_40:8, Psa_119:11, Isa_51:7.

Isa 24:5 For the earth has been defiled under its inhabitants, because they have transgressed the

Torot,a changedb the law, broken the everlasting covenant.c Footnotes: aTorot - plural of Torah -

Isa 51:7 “Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, a people in whose heart is My Torah: do not fear the reproach of men, nor be afraid of their revilings.

The following two verses from the Old Testament are extremely important, the first is referring

to the Millennium, where the Torah is given to the nations who go up to the mountain of the Lord in

Jerusalem. The second is from a warning of the coming day of the Lord’s wrath upon the world,

people are to remember the Torah.

Isa 2:3 And many peoples shall come and say, “Come, and let us go up to the mountain of יהוה, to the House of the Elohim of Ya‛aqoḇ, and let Him teach us His ways, and let us walk in His paths,

for out of Tsiyon comes forth the Torah, and the Word of יהוה from Yerushalayim.”

Mal 4:4 “Remember the Torah of Mosheh, My servant, which I commanded him in Ḥorěḇ for all Yisra’ěl – laws and right-rulings.

Moving to the New Testament the following scriptures refer to the Torah.

Mat 22:35 and one of them, one learned in the Torah, did question, trying Him, and saying,

Mat 22:36 “Teacher, which is the great command in the Torah?”

Mat 22:37 And יהושע said to him, “ ‘You shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart,

and with all your being, and with all your mind.’ Deu_6:5.

Mat 22:38 “This is the first and great command.

Mat 22:39 “And the second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbour as yourself.’

Lev_19:18.

Mat 22:40 “On these two commands hang all the Torah and the Prophets.”

Mat 23:23 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you tithe the mint and the anise and the cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the Torah: the right-ruling and

the compassion and the belief.d These need to have been done, without neglecting the others.

Luk 10:25 And see, a certain one learned in the Torah stood up, trying Him, and saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit everlasting life?”

Luk 10:26 And He said to him, “What has been written in the Torah? How do you read it?”

Luk 10:27 And he answering, said, “ ‘You shall love יהוה your Elohim with all your heart,

and with all your being, and with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ Deu_6:5

and ‘your neighbour as yourself.’ ” Lev_19:18.

Luk 10:28 And He said to him, “You have answered rightly. Do this and you shall live.”b

Luk 24:44 And He said to them, “These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all have to be filled that were written in the Torah of Mosheh and the Prophets and the Tehillim concerning Me.”

The above verses show that Jesus recognized the Torah and by answering questions directed

to it, reinforced its keeping.

However the strongest words come from Jesus directly stating that the Torah is not changed

one little bit until heaven and earth pass away. The following scriptures clearly state this;

Mat 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets.e I did not come to destroy

but to complete. Footnote: eThe Law and the Prophets is a term used for the pre-Messianic

Scriptures.

Mat 5:18 “For truly, I say to you, till the heaven and the earth pass away, one yod or one tittle shall

by no means pass from the Torah till all be done.f Footnote: f Luk_16:17.

Luk 16:16 “The Torah and the prophets are until Yoḥanan. Since then the reign of Elohim is being

announced, and everyone is doing violenceb upon it. Footnote: bSee Eze_22:26, Zep_3:4.

Luk 16:17 “And it is easier for the heaven and the earth to pass away than for one tittle of the Torah

to fall.c Footnote: cSee Law in the Explanatory Notes.

Looking at the verses from Matthew above, a question is when does Jesus complete all, or till all be done ? The prophets tell us all is completed by Jesus at the very end. This is reinforced by other

New Testament scripture. A few of these scriptures are as follows;

Isa 62:11 See, יהוה has proclaimed to the end of the earth: “Say to the daughter of Tsiyon, ‘See, your deliverance has come; see, His reward is with Him, and His work before Him.’ ”

Zec 14:4 And in that day His feet shall stand upon the Mount of Olives, which faces Yerushalayim on the east. And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two, from east to west, a very great valley, and half of the mountain shall move toward the north and half of it toward the south.

Psa 2:1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?

Psa 2:2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,

Psa 2:3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.

Psa 2:4 He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.

Psa 2:5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.

Psa 2:6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion.

Psa 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Psa 2:8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Psa 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel.

Psa 2:10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth.

Psa 2:11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

Dan 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him.

Dan 7:14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.

Zec 12:10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn.

Zec 12:11 In that day shall there be a great mourning in Jerusalem, as the mourning of Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddon.

Zec 12:12 And the land shall mourn, every family apart; the family of the house of David apart, and their wives apart; the family of the house of Nathan apart, and their wives apart;

Zec 12:13 The family of the house of Levi apart, and their wives apart; the family of Shimei apart, and their wives apart;

Zec 12:14 All the families that remain, every family apart, and their wives apart.

1Th 3:13 To the end he may stablish your hearts unblameable in holiness before God, even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all his saints.

Mat 25:31 “And when the Son of Aḏam comes in His esteem, and all the set-apart messengers with Him, then He shall sit on the throne of His esteem.

Mat 25:32 “And all the nations shall be gathered before Him, and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separates his sheep from the goats.

Mat 25:33 “And He shall set the sheep on His right hand, but the goats on the left.

Mat 25:34 “Then the Sovereign shall say to those on His right hand, ‘Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the reign prepared for you from the foundation of the world –

Joh 6:44 “No one is able to come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him. And I shall raise him up in the last day.

Rev 19:11 And I saw the heaven opened, and there was a white horse. And He who sat on him was

called Trustworthy and True, and in righteousness He judges and fights.a Footnote: aSee Act_10:42.

Rev 19:12 And His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on His head were many crowns, having a Name

that had been written, which no one had perceived except Himself – b Footnote: bSee Rev_2:17.

Rev 19:13 and having been dressed in a robe dipped in blood – and His Name is called: The Word

of יהוה.c Footnote: c Joh_1:1 and Joh_1:14.

1Co 15:24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

1Co 15:25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

1Co 15:26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

1Co 15:27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him.

1Co 15:28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

First Jesus returns to rule the earth and all the nations during the Millennium. At the end of

the Millennium, Jesus raises all remaining from the dead, judges them and gives the righteous people

everlasting life with Him and the Father, all others are thrown into the lake of fire.

Jesus has not completed all until He destroys Death, the last enemy of the Father. Then Jesus

lays down His authority so that the Father is all in all. At this point Jesus has fulfilled all.

Following this action on the part of Jesus, the present heavens and earth are destroyed and

new ones created. Once this happens there is no longer any need for the Torah. The Torah is

maintained in place up to the very end of the final judgment and the end of the current heavens and

earth, “till the heaven and the earth pass away”.

To learn the truth of God one must learn the lessons God gave us from the Torah, the first five

books of the Old Testament. They are still in effect today !
