Chapter 1: Introduction to AuthenTec TrueSuite

AuthenTec TrueSuite is biometric software that protects the security of your data through the use of fingerprint authentication. Fingerprint authentication is performed by scanning your finger on a fingerprint sensor. TrueSuite helps make your digital world more secure, more convenient and more personal.

After installing the software and restarting your computer you will need to enroll your fingerprints to create an association between your username, password and your fingerprints together with automatically generated security keys. All the data is stored in the user Identity. Use your fingerprint to manage your Identity and online experience.

After you enroll, you will be able to use your fingerprints to:

Windows Log On: Secure fingerprint log on for Windows.

Website Log On: One swipe log on to your favorite websites so you don’t have to remember your passwords.

QuickLaunch: One swipe to launch news, sports, and your social life.

Stronger Identity Protection for Websites: VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP) adds additional identity protection using your fingerprint sensor. Your account is more secure when your account requires a VIP security code in addition to your user name and password. The security code will be unique each time you log on. One swipe of your finger will automatically log you into your account. AuthenTec TrueSuite will assist you when a participating website is detected and help you get started.

AuthenTec TrueSuite makes your online experience more convenient and secure, whether you’re banking, accessing e-mail, shopping or downloading music or video.

NOTE: Only operating systems with Windows Biometric Framework - Windows 7 and higher - are compatible with TrueSuite.

Chapter 2: Installation

Installing TrueSuite

1. Insert your installation CD/DVD or run the installation file from the installation folder manually.

2. Click Next to continue. 3. Confirm or click the Change button to select another installation folder. 4. Ready to Install the Application dialog appears. Click Install to start the installation. 5. When the installation has completed, click on the Finish button. 6. Click on Yes to restart your computer when prompted. You must reboot your

computer before you begin to use TrueSuite. 7. The installation is now completed. After you restart the computer, the fingerprint

logon to Windows will be enabled. You must enroll your fingers to start using the software. See Enrollment chapter.

Uninstalling TrueSuite

1. Click Start > Control Panel. 2. Double-click the Programs and Features icon. 3. Select TrueSuite and click the Uninstall button. 4. Click the Yes button. 5. You will be asked what to do with your TrueSuite Identity stored on the computer.

There are two possibilities: o Keep your Identity for later use on your computer. This means that if you

later re-install TrueSuite, you can continue accessing data of the fingerprint applications. For this option leave the box unchecked.

o Delete your Identity from the computer. All data in fingerprint applications will be permanently deleted and you loose acces to your encrypted files in KeepSafe. For this option check the box.

6. Click Uninstall to continue. 7. When uninstallation is completed, click Yes to reboot your computer.

Uninstalling TrueSuite does not delete your enrolled fingerprints. To delete fingerprints open Control Panel > Hardware and Sounds > Biometric Devices and select Remove your fingerprint data.

NOTE: If you delete the Identity data, there is no more the possibility to unlock the

encrypted archives using the fingerprint, because the newly created Identity with re-

enrolled fingers does not contain the original unlock information required. Therefore

keeping a backup of your Identity on a safe place is highly recommended.

Chapter 3: Enrollment You may wish to enroll additional fingers or delete fingers from your enrollment. It is recommended that you always have at least two fingers enrolled.

1. Click on the desired finger. A blue circle will be displayed on the finger tip. 2. Swipe the selected finger across the sensor until your fingerprint is successfully

enrolled. The enrolled finger will have a green circle displayed on your finger tip.

Need additional assistance? Click the Help menu button and select How to Enroll a Finger.

For one Windows account there can be only one Identity. To enroll another user a different Windows Account is needed. See Control Panel > User Accounts to create a new account.

NOTE: The Windows 7 Windows Biometric Framework (WBF) does not permit enrollments for Guest or Built-in Administrator accounts. Simply create another account with administrator privileges, or a new standard account. TrueSuite will

work fine.

an encrypted structure called Identity. If the Identity data are lost, there is no more

Chapter 11: KeepSafe

KeepSafe allows you to encrypt your files in a protected folder. The folder can be shown on your Desktop or in My Computer. This folder will not be visible for other users sharing the computer.

When the KeepSafe folder is unlocked, you can work with it as with a standard folder (delete, copy, or rename files, etc.).

To unlock/lock KeepSafe Select the folder and right-click to display the context menu and select Unlock/Lock. Authentication is required for unlocking (fingerprint or master/Windows password).

To add files to KeepSafe

1. Open KeepSafe. 2. Drag and drop or copy files into the folder or select the files (or folders) and right-

click to display the context menu and choose Add to KeepSafe.

The KeepSafe archive can be found in your profile directory and this location is fixed:

C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\KeepSafe\keepsafe.swp

It is mostly marked as hidden, so you have to enable hidden files in Explorer first to be able to see this file (Tools -> Folder options -> View). It is highly recommended to keep a backup of the KeepSafe archive.

NOTE: TrueSuite stores its important information (including KeepSafe information)

in an encrypted structure called Identity. If the Identity data are lost, there is no more

the possibility to unlock the encrypted archives using the fingerprint, because the newly

created Identity with re-enrolled fingers does not contain the original unlock information

required. Therefore keeping a backup of your Identity on a safe place is highly

recommended.
