From rugged mountain ranges, lush rainforests and golden beaches to pre-historic glaciers, volcanoes and majestic fi ords, the geological diversity of New Zealand will leave you breathless. Comprised of two main islands and several smaller islands, New Zealand boasts a total land area comparable to that of Colorado. In other words, it’s small… and accessible.

New Zealand’s native fl ora and fauna are incredibly unique, having evolved in isolation for millions of years. With no native land-based mammals, the country is home to several species of fl ightless birds, including the Kiwi.

Speaking of “Kiwis,” New Zealanders are world-renowned for their friendly and outgoing nature. New Zealand is a young country (independent since 1947), though the Maori people lived for generations on this land long before the fi rst Europeans arrived.
