SewingAll seam allowances are 1⁄4” (6cm) unless otherwise noted. Sew pieces right sides together.
1. Sew the 31⁄2”(8.89cm) Fabric A-S squares together with the Fabric A rectangles into rows as shown. Sew the rows together in order to make the Heart Block (Fig. 1) on page 4. Make a total of (3).
2. Sew the 23⁄4” x 5” (6.99cm x 12.70cm) Fabric C-F rectangles together into (2) borders as shown (Fig. 2)on page 4.
3. Sew (1) 21⁄2” x 401⁄2” (6.35cm x 102.87cm) and (1) 21⁄2” x 141⁄2” (6.35cm x 36.83cm) Fabric A strip together to make a horizontal border, measuring 21⁄2” x 541⁄2” (6.35cm x 138.43cm). Make (2).
4. Sew (1) 21⁄2” x 401⁄2” (6.35 x 102.87cm) Fabric A strip to each end of (1) 21⁄2” x 51⁄2” (6.35cm x 13.97cm) Fabric A rectangle to make a vertical border,
measuring 21⁄2” x 851⁄2” (6.35cm x 217.17cm). Make a total of (4) vertical borders.
Quilt Top Assembly5. Sew the heart blocks and 271⁄2” (69.85cm) Fabric A
squares together into rows as shown. Sew the rows together to make the quilt center (Fig. 3) on page 4.
6. Following the Quilt Layout diagram on page 5, sew (1) horizontal border to the top and the other to the bottom of the quilt center.
7. Sew a vertical border to each side of a pieced border. Make (2). Sew (1) to each side of the quilt center.
Finishing8. Sew together the (9) 21⁄4” x WOF (5.72cm x WOF)
Fabric B binding strips end to end using diagonal seams. Press the seams open. Press the binding strip in half wrong sides together.
9. Layer the backing (wrong side up), batting, and quilt top (right side up). Baste the layers together and quilt as desired. Trim excess batting and backing even with the top after quilting is completed.
10. Leaving an 8” (20.32cm) tail of binding, sew binding to top of quilt through all layers matching all raw edges. Miter corners. Stop approximately 12” (30.48cm) from where you started. Lay both loose ends of binding flat along quilt edge. Where these two loose ends meet, fold them back on themselves and press to form a crease. Using this crease as your stitching line, sew the two open ends of the binding together right sides together. Trim seam to 1⁄4” (.64cm) and press open. Finish sewing binding to quilt.
11. Turn the binding to the back of quilt and hand-stitch in place.
